Cabin Wars Info - Sci Fi Cabin SWC March 2021
Hi Sci-Fi campers! As you know, it's cabin wars today! Please read through this before you war other cabins or write toward cabin wars.
First up, if you don't know what cabin wars are, check out this awesome FAQ! It'll tell you everything you need to know about cabin wars!
Second up, I have some Sci-Fi cabin specific stuff for you.
Who can I war?
See that list of cabins in our desc? this one:
Allies are cabins that we don't attack at all. If those cabins attack us (you can tell which cabin attackers are from based on which studios they're curating), contact a Sci-Fi leader, or preferably all three. You should also definitely retaliate with the biggest war you can. You don't need to ask a leader to retaliate. You might also consider getting your other allies to retaliate for you.
Neutrals are a bit iffy - you can attack them, but you don't have to. Ask a leader before attacking neutral cabins. If they attack you, retaliate with the same war - you don't need to ask a leader to retaliate. (except don't do retaliation on retaliation on retaliation etc..) Leaders can and will also give advance permission to attack - e.g. “You can attack one or two neutrals but only if we don't have any pre-existing wars, we don't want to fall behind on writing”.
Enemies are the most fun! They'll be warring us a lot, and we'll be warring them a lot! You don't need to ask to war enemies, but do so carefully… we don't want to end up with wayyyy too many wars!
What do I do when I war a cabin?
Well aside from actually warring the cabin, you need to tell us so we can check back later! In the Sci-Fi cabin, comment “I warred ___ cabin at __:__ EST”. Insert the cabin you warred and the time in EST that you warred them. That way we can check back later and make sure they finish it, and if they didn't, that they removed the points.
What do I do if we get warred?
The first thing you do when you get warred is reply to the person with the end time in EST time. You can look up “time in EST” if you need. If you can't tell the end time (say, it just says “one hour ago”), ask the person that warred you.
If the war specifies a certain number of people do something, before you start writing for it comment something like “I'll be one of the people!”
Then you write! If you need other people writing and there's no one else active, feel free to comment on a few cabinmate's profiles (including leaders!) asking for help.
Here's the most important bit: When you add the words from writing towards a war, add them as a reply to that comment, not at the top of the studio. It's also a good idea to calculate how much more you have to write.
The wars all have extra challenges that can give you some points - e.g. “If you don't reuse a single verb, add 50 points for your cabin”. You do not need to do these challenges. If there are other people doing the war with you, make sure you agree on this with them - most of the challenges require everyone participating to do the extra task to receive the points.
I would personally advise that you not bother with extra points. It's 100x better to have a finished war than an unfinished war that you were going to get extra points for but didnt finish. Plus, it's not very many extra points - remember that 1 word = 1 point at the end of camp, so it's probably easier to just write a hundred words extra than to jump through a million hoops trying to get 100 bonus points.
What if we lose a war?
First of all, don't worry! Life happens, and sometime you miss a war or can't manage. Don't get yourself down about it, and don't be worried. No one is going to be angry at you for losing the war. The first thing you should do is reply to the original war with something like “We lost this one. Subtracting points now
”. Make it clear that you will be subtracting the points and they don't need to also do it.
Then head on over to the main cabin, comment “-(amount of points) to Sci-Fi, lost a word war” or something and wait for it to be subtracted.
If you feel really bad, you might also go and write a whole bunch to “make up” the points - remember that 1 word = 1 point at the end of camp!!
Remember guys - while you should try your best and give it your all, real life comes first. Sleep > SWC, and School is also > SWC.
Thanks everyone! May the cries of your enemies be silenced by space's void. <3

Should we war a specific cabin? Maybe one of the top ones?
