No support, this is a really bad idea, and how would that blacklist work.

There was no mention of a blacklist anywhere…

Amazingly, rejected.

10.4 Moderate mini-mods
There are a lot of users (“mini-mods”) on the forums who like to help out by identifying duplicate posts, explaining rules and forum etiquette (especially in response to blockspamming or necroposting), or quoting this Rejected Suggestions list. Such actions can actually be helpful for the Scratch Team moderators as these mini-mods can effectively answer users' questions or direct a user on where to go. Of course, these mini-mods should be acting helpful; you can report anyone who is trying to moderate someone without being respectful.

Here's why writing “support” and “no support” without any explanation is a bad thing to do, brought to you by Scratchfangs:

Scratchfangs wrote:

Its spam
Its annoying

No new user is going to see that
It clogs up the post.

If someone wants to explain why, they can
Nobody has too, that's not in the rules

Its useless and 100% annoying when I am seeing people do this

Workaround: Adopt the conventions which everyone else on this subforum realized were much better like five years ago.

And we can make new forumers even more constructive by asking why they support!

No. Be constructive when posing. If you just give a generic support/no support. You are not adding anything.

On that point, I found this post from over 5 years ago criticising common suggestions terms as a product of the “suggestions hivemind”. It explicitly mentions support and no support, but is also an idea that can applied to other Suggestions lingo like the aforementioned “please explain why”, “be constructive” etc.

Oh no, 2016 me in a closed thread so I can't edit in an edgy footnote! i am in physical pain

Edit: Anyway, as for as an actual response, I feel like “please explain why” and “be constructive” are kind of unavoidable because anything else you could possibly say would just be boiling down to those two phrases. It's hard to come up with an original and innovative response when you need to address the same problem over and over again. This is why I partially empathize with people who use “automatic message generators” even though I personally find those really annoying.

I think that those posts should be ignored like necroposts as they either 1.) fail their purpose and get ignored, multiplying the spam or 2.) create a petty argument for some reason, multiplying the spam.

Ideally, nobody should say support, ever. Nobody needs a tag that shows that you like a suggestion, it doesn't help anyone. If you offer a reason that's so short and insignificant but has support at the front, it's pretty much the same as saying support with nothing and is meaningless. If you provide an in-depth explanation for why you like the suggestion, then you don't need support as your post already implies that.

I think that if you can't be bothered to provide something to the discussion, you shouldn't post. Try to favor quality over quantity, alright?

No support, but if this suggestion was to be constructive while saying that, then I would support. Yeah, just saying that someone else's post is unconstructive is also unconstructive. You need to say something constructive while you say that someone else's post is unconstructive.

I think I could have literally posted these exact words if you just dumbed down the wording a little and added like three emotes I hate when people say “I'm taking my support away from this suggestion!” as if “their support” means anything too. No one cares if you “support” or “no support” or “semi-support” or “mega support” or “hemi-semi-demi-support”.

We are looking for more in-depth discussion than simply “support” or “no support”. I don't have a problem with folks explaining to new forum users what we expect - so long as they are polite and friendly about it.
