Personally, I think suggestions should apply to about all the community, not just curators. So?…but not as useful to the rest of the community. It could be useful for curators, who are trying to find projects in a certain range. No support, I don't see it as needed.
Still no support
you took the words right out of my mouth fellow Scratcher.

But then that's like the discuss button because users have been complaining because New Scratchers can't find forums quickly and then someone says, “Suggestions shouldn't be just about New Scratchers, it should be about everyone!”Personally, I think suggestions should apply to about all the community, not just curators. So?…but not as useful to the rest of the community. It could be useful for curators, who are trying to find projects in a certain range. If you are going to say, “But the Scratch Team said no anyway!”, that is because of a different reason.

Support. It would be great for finding projects when you are bored. It would help Scratchers get noticed as people would have a chance to find their project.
As for inappropriate projects popping up just report them. They were meant to be reported in the first place, and if they are not safe for Scratch the ST will take them down. Inappropriate content can already show up in the newest projects section, don't see why it is a reason for not adding this. This should only take you to projects that are shared. Right now you can type random letters in the URL, however there is a chance that your come across an unshared project.

Support. If someone just wants to find a random project, that's fine. You don't have to use it if you don't see a use for it.

Here's a way to solve all of the aforementioned problems:
Mark all super recently share projects that are younger than a week old as NFE on the random page. This should cut down on accidental exposure to bad projects. Also the random page shouldn't use loves and favorites as a mark but instead be truly random!

But NFE projects are the vast minority of projects and this would draw attention away from new projects. Here's a way to solve all of the aforementioned problems:

It's not as though all new projects are either low quality remixes or inappropriate - there are a lot of great new projects that are already under viewed since there are hardly any systems in place to draw more attention to them.
The search already prioritises popular projects.

I would love it! Sometimes, I have a hard time finding inspiration for a project, this could give me a random project, so I don't have to pick!Personally, I think suggestions should apply to about all the community, not just curators. So?…but not as useful to the rest of the community. It could be useful for curators, who are trying to find projects in a certain range. Don't forget https://scratch.mit.edu/users/random … but wait that takes me to the profile of random… XD There's a problem. But there should still be a way for a similar url to take you to a random user.
Other than that, Support :P
[Necroposting is okay if the necropost adds well to the topic.]Edit: Now I'm not sure random users was a good idea… nvm :P

I wrote a script which does this, and AFAIK I'm allowed to distribute it for personal use. *Cough cough self-promotion cough cough*
I think I've responded to a duplicate of this or something similar in the past, but allow me to repeat myself anyway. My script gives consistently “meh” results. No one I've shown it to has claimed to have found any inappropriate projects through it, so I don't believe that's a huge concern, though I realize I am working with a very small sample size which would not accurately represent the entire body of Scratch users.
The problem is this: I don't think my script has much lasting value. After a few runs, the novelty of “wow completely arbitrary random Scratch projects” wears off. Maybe they'd be willing to implement it anyway, but I don't personally have much faith that this is worth exploring beyond a hacky bookmarklet.

that website is very usefulStill, it's not useful. I personally think it's as useful as randomcolour.com.I disagree. You may aswell remove suggestions all together. Nothing will ever help all the community. everyone has different preferences.Personally, I think suggestions should apply to about all the community, not just curators. So?…but not as useful to the rest of the community. It could be useful for curators, who are trying to find projects in a certain range. Like I said before, there would be little use over this apart from it being ‘press me if you are really bored and want to visit a random page!’

Semi-Support, I don't see it as needed, but it would be nice for people who are bored like me. I also think this would be somewhat useful for Front Page Curators trying to find projects to curate. To prevent inappropriate projects from appearing, I think that the search results shouldn't show anything marked NFE. Of course, not all NFE projects are necessarily that inappropriate (they are still allowed on Scratch, and then there are projects with animated thumbnails that are marked NFE), and bad projects can still show up in search results, in which is the case you would want to report them.

No support, this could potentially be dangerous, and it has no real value. Curators should be looking for projects that fit the front page, not just pick five random projects each day.
