A way for Scratchers to vote on Suggestion posts
There should really be a way to support these posts without creating a new reply just to say “yeah, they should add that feature in!”

No support. The purpose of the Suggestions forum are not to just vote on whether people support or not. People should support their opinions by stating a reason why.
Keep in mind that a topic in the Suggestions forum is a discussion, not a ballot box.

Scratch doesn't have enough explosions in it! That's why we should make a block that makes the sprite explode, like this:if <touching [Fire v] ?> then
explode (50) steps wide
end
Great idea! Scratch definitely needs more explosions!See, since I didn't have any extra ideas or critiques or counterarguments to add, but I wanted to send my approval, my message was really redundant. In my opinion, posts like these are like scrolling through clutter among original replies.

No support for the following reasons:
1. This isn't a ballot box.
2. People should always state their reasons when deciding if an idea is useful or not.
3. Decisions are supposed to be controversial.

The ST only cares about the reasons for implementing/not implementing a suggestion, though a voting thing might help reduce the spammy sans-reason “support” and “no support” posts
However, one might change their opinion once someone brings up an interesting point, so perhaps voting requires one to follow the topic. Also, people might vote “no support” just because it's workaroundable or a duplicate, so perhaps it should ask “Will the suggestion benefit Scratch? yes / no” or something similar

The Scratch Team shouldn't prioritize the suggestions that the majority supports. Their first priority should be making Scratch a better place, not adding a new block or mascot whenever the community votes for it.
No support.

No support. If it's a clickable button saying
“Support”
“No Support”
“Neutral”
then no.
Scratchers should be able to express their opinions on why something is good/bad.

See, this is why a voting counter would benefit the Suggestions forum. People would be less likely to want to place their opinions in the same place where the reasons go, and you end up with people restating the same reasons multiple times.
I think these two points (for no-support) have been made clear:

If so, why is the forum there?- Wahsp

The ST doesn't have to prioritize suggestions based on their vote counts (though they can to see if a suggestion is extremely unpopular), and it would help reduce the spammy “support” and “no-support” posts, making finding the reasons for and against implementing the suggestion easier.

For the voting system, if it would just be an option to vote “Support” or “No support,” then it is just as bad as people writing replies that say “Support” or “No support” because the ST does not implement suggestions based on the number of supporters a suggestion has.

Why can't we just have upvotes/downvote system like on Reddit? The posts considered more useful and productive can be more visible than less useful/spammy ones, and anyone wishing to contribute to the conversation can always comment. I only comment if it's something worth my time to comment on, if it's really minor but would still be cool, I may have just said ‘support’ or upvoted had those been options. As it is, I often ignore these posts because I know that people saying ‘support’ get told to stop spamming. Like others have said, redundant posts like the explosion agreement example or saying support ends up clogging the thread.

This makes it seem like a ballot box. It's also not constructive, which is the purpose of the forums.

Okay, no downvotes. But by calling it a ballot box, that implies that the voting is the SOLE function of the forums. It's just for people who don't have the time nor interest to add their opinions, or where stating their opinions would be redundant. Is saying ‘support, this would be cool’ really that much more constructive than saying ‘support’? And while ST may not implement things based on # of upvotes, surely common problems are more important than ones that happen less frequently? My idea acts more like a bump than anything else, I guess is a good way to put it, without the need for people writing ‘support’ all the time, which I agree is not productive, but would you rather not let those people say anything at all?
TL,DR; Having upvotes to get certain threads to the front page acts like a bump that doesn't clog the thread with ‘support’ and ‘please stop saying support, it’s irrelevant spam'.
