Downloading Music as an mp3
Hi, I have recently figured out that I can download music from scratch, however, my chromebook only plays the sound for music files that are mp3, and whenever I export(download) music from a project, it downloads as a .wav (I don't know what that is) and I can't hear the sound. Any help?

Scratch automatically converts sounds to .wav. You could try converting the sound to a .mp3 if your chromebook can't handle .wav files (which is really strange).

This isn't necessarily true - sounds are only converted into WAV if you edit them. If you do not edit them, they will stay as MP3 files. Scratch automatically converts sounds to .wav. You could try converting the sound to a .mp3 if your chromebook can't handle .wav files (which is really strange).
@Elliot_Coyote: I did some testing and found out that Scratch does not correctly handle MP3 files when you export them - they will always have a WAV extension, even if the original file was an MP3. You can fix this by manually renaming the file back to an MP3, but I have no idea how to do that on a Chromebook (I've never used Chromebooks - it may be that there is no way to change a file's extension, because that seems to me like exactly the kind of stupid thing Google would do, but whatever, I'm rambling again). Note, however, that if the original file was a WAV, then this will not fix it and will actually break it.* AFAIK, there is no easy way to tell if the original file was a WAV or an MP3.
As for what WAV is, it's an extremely common and simple audio format that was introduced over 30 years ago that is still used today. I don't know why Chromebooks can't play them, that seems like a really dumb limitation.
*Note that renaming a WAV file to an MP3 file does not magically make it a valid MP3 file, but some media players may be able to play the malformed file anyway.

How exactly are you doing this? Are you right clicking on the files and clicking “Export”? Because I wasn't able to get this result by doing that.
(Also, in the future, when you are quoting someone, feel free to delete parts of their post that are not relevant to your response.)

The audio probably wasn't edited. How exactly are you doing this? Are you right clicking on the files and clicking “Export”? Because I wasn't able to get this result by doing that.
