I think that there should be an alert (comment-style) when a forum thread that we're following is closed or deleted by the Scratch Team.

Before I put in my opinion, just by the Scratch Team?

Bump.

It feels sad knowing that you're nearly at the end, that your journey will soon be complete, and the experiences will soon end. How many more topics are left to bump? How many have I should've bumped?

Anyway, semi-support. I had this idea too, but only for the topic owner, not the followers. I would be annoyed if I got this message for any but my own topics, especially since I sometimes purposefully follow a topic before it gets closed, but that's just me. Full support for only the topic owner. This would not send, of course, if you're the one who closed it. I don't know how a “comment-style” alert would work, but I don't think it should be an alert at all; it should just be a normal forum message, but with a slightly different message:
Paddle2See closed the topic Duplicate Suggestion
or if the people implementing this decide that there's no reason to include who closed it, it could say this instead:
The topic Duplicate Suggestion was closed.

I agree, there could also be messages for when two duplicate topics are merged or when a topic is moved to another forum. I think this message should also be sent to the topic owner even if they aren't following the topic. The message would allow users to know when something has happened to their topic, therefore there is less confusion.

Examples:
The forum thread Topic was closed.
The forum thread Topic-1 was merged with Topic-2.
The forum thread Topic was moved to Suggestions.
If a topic is deleted, it would simply say that it was moved to the dustbin forum, as topics are never really deleted unlike projects.
