No I dont mean like that! Its not like a request you need to accept! My english is bad, sorry! I am using the wrong words sorry! Its EXACTLY the same follower button, but it says “friend” instead! Just so people will not think about it as followers etc!

that's what a friend request system is. you request a friendship, and the recipient can choose to friend you or not.

I'm a bit confused. How is this any different from the current following system? (And honestly, right now it's pretty darn easy to tell who you're friends with on Scratch.)

You are missunderstanding WHOLE thing!!! You dont need to be real friends with the scratcher! The follower button are gonna change to a friend button so people will care less about followers. But it will not send a request that you need to accept! It will be EXACTLY like it is right now. You will get a message “@RandomscratcherIjustneededarandomname998999 have friend you” and then you got a new “follower” but the NAME of the follower button have just changed! NOTHING ELSE!!!

I don't believe the name of something is the sole variable in how people use it. How could changing “follows” to “friends” solve any problems, besides making Scratch look a tad bit friendlier?

If we delete follower button and add a friend button, then people wouldn't care about followers cause that wouldn't even exist!

But there would be outrage because a beloved feature would've been removed.
And just imagine the inbox spam from people trying to friend you. I already know you get a notification when somebody follows you, but then at that point you'd have to actually read everything.

…Because the only reason the following feature is abused is because it's called “following”, and renaming it to something arbitrary will magically fix all of our problems?

they wont care about followers, but then they'll care about how many friends they have, which isn't better in any conceivable way.

I agree, so no support. I don't see the use of changing it back, it'll just make F4F more common in my opinion, just with the following:

“ Friend 4 friend? ”

Also, I don't see the harm in F4F. I can do F4F with others, and they can seem nice.

Also, some friends are made after the F4F request had been made, and they seem kind enough.

And, when the Follow button out of the blue becomes a Friend Request button, people would be very confused, some have grown up around the follow button, and to see it become a friend request, it seems odd for them, so they don't send friend requests, and don't press it ever.
