How on Earth is the first thing a reason not to support? You could say the same thing about studios. Both can be raided if managed irresponsibly, and it's the responsibility of the owners to be responsible with who they promote.

I support both the overall suggestion (a way to safely collaborate in small groups) and the one mentioned in this post (there are more things possible on a forum thread than in standard scratch comments.

made a mockup because I was bored
the group-exclusive comments would be visible to anyone and reportable by anyone, but only members can comment
i also added a public comment section
anyone can view projects to avoid PMing (however, maybe loves, favourites and comments are turned off?)

First of all, it's not unregulated, it will have the same filters, and even if only people can post in it, everyone can see and report them
Second of all, that's basically unrelated blockspam

So basically you are suggesting studios, except people have the ability to edit and create projects with certain permission levels. Instead of creating a new feature altogether, can't this be incorporated into the current studio setup?

I also don't understand the idea of “3 groups per week”. How would that cause spam? Studios do not have a limit per week, and they are not affecting the Scratch servers by any means. I'm pretty sure groups wouldn't have any impact on the servers either.

Agreed.
I don't feel the need to make a whole new feature. The suggestion only adds onto something that exists. We should combine them.

My support for this is shrinking, I really don't see why you can't just use manager chat, in the description, and constantly remix a project

You can edit anyone's message in the manager chat, as any manager can edit the description. They also clog up the description with unneeded scrollbars. And yes, you can remix a project, and the turn-based collab suggestion comes from here.
