i found a really old project it is back in 2009 but when i first joined scratch and tried it it worked fine it was really good but then suddenly a few months ago it crashes all the time i cant even see inside or remix its completely broken. I will put a link to the game down:

other info: ive tried multiple browsers and i get the same thing. this issue is only happening to this particular project.

Yes when you remix I think scratch automatically your(your remixed it) updates that project to 3.0 . There is very little you have to do

the remix button is grayed out and it gives me some crash error even when i open it

for some reason whenever I try to open the 4th project on the explore page, scratches servers always crash!
do any of you know what's happening?

The project loads perfectly fine for me; I saved it as a remix without any trouble.
I can't seem to get past the menu screen but I'm unsure if that's a 3.0 issue or an issue with the actual game…

As soon as I can I'll test it on my Windows laptop with Chrome and see if it crashes then. If it does, it might be a browser issue. If not it might be a client-side problem on your end.

It crashed every time I tried. I have no idea what's wrong.

This is as much as I can help since I know nothing about this stuff; I'm just providing data that can hopefully help you or someone else figure out what's causing this.

Try running the project on Firefox.

Good idea. I'll try that as soon as I get back on my laptop with Chrome and Firefox installed (I'm on my school MacBook rn).

I'm also going to try running it on Chrome, but on my MacBook. It crashed on Windows with Chrome; I wonder what will happen on here. If it crashes here too, it might be an issue with Chrome. I'll edit this message once I've tried it out.

Edit: Yeehaw, it crashed. It must have something to do with Chrome. I'll try it out on Firefox tomorrow ASAP.

It works perfectly, no crashing. Again, either I can't figure out how to play it or the game is bugged. But it works fine, no crashes here.

You should be able to download the project here and open it in Scratch 1.4 or 2.0.
Make sure to add “.sb” at the end first.

EDIT: I tested it myself, and I can verify that the project works as intended in Scratch 1.4.

ram =\= how the project runs in most cases. A computer with 4 gigabytes of ram ran projects nearly identically as s computer with 8 gigabytes of ram, and they had the same specs(I removed one ram stick then added it back). Its probably a cpu/gpu issue, but even then processers now a days are much more powerful than the processers people used during 1.4's lifespan. So its most likely just a 3.0 issue with how different it is from 1.4.

The only case where ram applies is on older tablets and phones which have limited ram, being used by both the system, browser, apps they may have opened, etc

If this is true, I still don't understand how using the same laptop with different browsers can have both crashing every time on one browser and working as normal on another. Sure, the OP used different browsers and had the same effect, but for me, both of my devices can run it fine on every browser they have – except Chrome.

Why is this? I'm not very tech-savvy so I'm probably overlooking something.

Edit: I haven't tried it on Microsoft Edge, because that kind of sucks, but I'll try it later just to test.

Also: the project still doesn't work as intended even when I do manage to load it; after seeing inside, it seems the broadcasts are not sending – which, I can conclude, is clearly a 3.0 issue (not surprising seeing as how old the project is!) – however, it doesn't crash. Except on Chrome, where it crashes every time.
