What are some of the most obscure Scratch features you can think of?

They were just for April fools, and in my opinion, if we kept they would get really annoying.

but i SO want to play with a cat block lol… i wonder if there's a cat block simulator? if there isn't it shouldn't be too hard to make, you'd just have to know what it does…

You can still find them here, but I don't think you can save the project.

Well, you can export it if you're particularly desperate. Does anyone else know any obscure features? I actually know of some unused features on the community site but this isn't the right place to put them.

Okay, here's something else I noticed:

I discovered this on a random project made by somebody else during 2.0: For some reason the “when up key pressed” and “when down key pressed” hat blocks also respond to scrollbar input. It's been this way since at least 2.0 and once again I've never heard anyone else talk about it. Maybe it was mentioned in a tutorial somewhere, I don't know. Clearly someone had to remember it for it to be ported to 3.0, at least. Maybe this is really common knowledge to everyone else, but it totally blew my mind. Not even the Scratch Wiki mentions this
The wiki does mention it, just not where one would expect. Interestingly, it has existed since the when key pressed block was introduced in 2004, so it's probably a feature of Squeak (the programming language Scratch was originally written in).

Yeah, I don't know if that's obscure. It's probably the most famous April Fools joke of them all, save for maybe the semicolon.
The sad thing is I feel like I missed alot in 2.0
Don't worry, I think everyone feels that way. As a pretty active early 2.0 user I always wish I took the opportunity (it's a long story) to join during Scratch 1.4 instead
Another thing, they still have now, might be the “herding cats” and “counting nanos” and such they have sometimes appear in the loading screen. That's pretty neat when you see it for the first time.
I agree, those are pretty cool. I miss the loading bar, but at least it has funny messages.
There was a loading bar?! As being hidden from the online world of scratch in 2.0, I never looked at any other projects, so I never EVER got to see the old loading screen :'(.
Being a Scratch veteran has its perks
What's a Scratch veteran?
Someone who has been on Scratch for longer than most active users nowadays. I first used Scratch in 2015, my first account was created in 2018.
I started at about 2016 or 2017 so I technically count as a veteran.
But I think the true veterans are the 1.x. people.

Oh, and remember when you could subscribe to emails from Scratch?
Isn't that still the case on account creation?

1.x was almost seven years ago now. Considering the median(? I forget the statistics words) current Scratch age is 12, I think that some of the latest and youngest 1.x users are turning 18 this year, and probably don't even use Scratch anymore. I'd consider 2.0 enough to be a “veteran” now, since it's been two years since the release of 3.0 And totally not just because I joined in 2014 :P

The ability to put boolean blocks into variables. The greater than and lesser than boolean reply “false” if it's not greater than but it's in the spot (like 1>1000) and true when it does. Equal only replies “true” if the numbers are equal. “And” and “Or” always reply false, and “Not” replies true, and that's all the ones I tested until I got tired of it.

Did you know that for a brief period during Scratch 2's development, you were able to scroll the stage?

This:

Why would somebody ever use this? I doubt anybody wants to read every single post in every single topic across all forums.

Although, I'm not certain if this is topic is a good fit for QaS. Or any forum for that matter. I remember a few months ago, a lot of forums like this got closed.

Lol yeah. I try to read every single topic from the suggestions subforum but I would never try to keep track of all of them. Not even CatsUnited comes close to that level of crazy.

Though I agree with you, I think that seems kind of dumb. I don't see anything wrong with having casual conversations about Scratch if we're allowed to have casual conversations about other media. I'd suggest a “Miscellaneous Scratch” category or something to balance out the two other miscellaneous subforums but I doubt they would create that. Let's be real, it would be cool though

Not really a feature, but I don't even remember where I first found the link to this.
Other than that, does anyone else remember this block in the 3.0 beta?

I know of a few that aren't really obscure, but nobody really uses like:
The turbo mode button
Edit > Turn on Turbo Mode
Suprise button
Has anyone ever used this unironically and when not trying to figure out what it does?

I feel like the only reason to use this is for the novelty of it being around in 1.4
