Of course, there is the blatant problem that this will only affect quotes after this change.

I don't think this all too particularly helpful – discussions are usually not large enough where it's impossible to find a post someone else quoted (and thus was most likely more recent), and even then, why would you want to see the original post? I suppose more trinkets for the forums isn't a bad thing, so I'm not entirely opposed to the idea, I just don't think it has many purposes.

Or a quote that does exist, but you messed up with the post ID so it goes to the wrong post

No support. I always include the source if it's from a different topic, and if it's the same topic just include the page number after the quote. Scrolling through 20 posts isn't hard. and besides that looks clunky with the black parenthesis, it should be like [see post] with square brackets included with the url, much better
