Coming from a duplicate. bump.

Support! This will make it easier to close topics if you noticed it was a duplicate.

Closing topics in less than 24 hours

If a topic was made on April 12 10:34:56, then one would have to wait until April 13 10:34:56 before being able to close it. This seems too long of a wait time.

Now if a topic was made on April 17 08:24:12, and one had to wait until April 17 14:24:12 to close, That seems reasonable. I'd still support it even if it was a 12 hour wait time (I really want some sort of decrease). Support.

No support. The close topic button appearing after 24 hours was put in place so spam topics couldn't be made as easily. I don't see why you couldn't report the topic to be closed

Yeah, 24 hours seems excessive IMO, for things that can be solved in 1 hour at most, although the “Report” button is there for solved topics

Semi-Support. You can close a topic as soon as 1 hour has elapsed or someone else posts something.

It's pretty annoying having to report something to be closed, so this would be a useful suggestion. I think the gap should be 1-3 minutes, as others have said.

Semi-support. I'll support only if you have to wait 1-5 minutes. Because there would be trolls who would make spam topics then immediately close them.

I don't get why people are parroting the same reason without actually thinking about it: there is literally no harm in someone being able to close their topic after spamming. If a spammer closes their topic immediately, so what? That's actually better, because it encourages people to report instead of respond. Closing a topic does not let you post faster.

no support. if you post a topic you should spend time on it, and think it’s a worthy enough suggestion to enter in.

This doesn't just apply to suggestions, in fact, the OP uses HwS as an example. If someone posts a question on QaS or HwS and it gets answered quickly, then they would have no reason to have to wait 24 hours to close it.

Also, even on suggestions, it still has a reason to be there. For example, if someone accidentally posts a dupe and wants to close it, they would have to wait for a mod to close it. There isn't really any reason for them to have to.

BTW what does your post really have to do with it anyway? If someone spends time on a suggestion, then why would they want to close? I don't get what point you're trying to make.
