Should the Scratch forums switch to using Markdown?
Scratch Forums is censoring the and characters. Look: ‘ ’ “ ”. They are not the same character as the original. If only there was a way to escape that?

Should the Scratch forums switch to using Markdown?
I find that markdown is easier to use because the controls resemble to actual thing better. For example, *x* becomes <i>x</i>, and **x** becomes <b>x</b> These two are not hard for me in bbcode because they are similar in HTML, but those, and also __x__ and ~~x~~, are much easier with markdown for someone who has never used HTML before. The only advantage bbcode has is for people who have already used HTML, which is only a small percentage of scratch.
The only special modification for markdown needed for it to be used in scratch would be scratchblocks. however, that could be built with
```scratch
normal scratchblocks parser here
```
and to quote, the code is
>source first line
> second line
Markdown also has escapes. In bbcode, to escape some square brackets I need [[]1, 2, 3, 4] to generate [1, 2, 3, 4] and I need :[b][/b]) to generate :). In markdown escapes are simple: add a \ before the character in question. Backslash can also be used before HTML escapes, such as \É or \É or \É to generate É. If the backslash is not there then the & will be displayed normally. Therefore, with markdown users will no longer need the format buttons most of the time.

Semi-Support.
I don't like the idea of completely reformating, but having a BBCode and Markdown tab would be great. There are lots of posts that would be completely ruined if we completely switched over.

No, just no, maintenance, and also, winning a war. What are some good reasons to switch?

Support! Markdown in my opinion is much easier then BBCode! While I admit that you can't set colors for the text that you want with Markdown, Everything has it's own pros and cons.

No support.
What will happen to the Scratchblocks plugin then? What will happen to the globe icon thing so we can help other people?
Using Markdown is enough pain for me. I can't stand “symbols to format” because it may overwrite our text! And yeah.. BBCode seems easier for someone who uses the buttons to use BBCode. Also, there are more options in BBCode imo.
Older posts using BBCode will break unless if it gets “converted”.
Also, I hate how the code formatting needs a backtick or what that is. My keyboard doesn't have it.
