Gimkit and Kahoot are two quiz-hosting systems. In Kahoot, the questions are asked in real time, with everybody answering said questions at the same time. As for Gimkit, people taking the quiz can answer at their own pace.

Gimkit has become considerably more popular on Scratch due to its new mode, Trust No One. In this game mode, players are allowed to write down notes, and others have the ability to peek at these notes.

Are classic Kahoot and Gimkit considered methods of unmoderated chat, because the host can designate their own questions and answer choices? What about Trust No One?

There was a question about Gimkit the other, I don't know if it's allowed but you don't need a livestream or chat to use it. On the other hand, Kahoot requires livestreaming, so that's a no.

I wouldn't think so, people could write anything on the question.

live play and live streams are different: though kahoot has real-time play, there is no way for users to communicate, only give nonverbal feedback to the host (star rating, like/dislike and happy/neutral/sad) at the end, and feedback is optional; i'd actually say kahoot is a yes, albeit questionable because of time sensitivity.

I think @pavcato is right here. Participants are not able to see the questions on their devices - they need a livestream from the host in order to see them.

I think that's dependent on how the game is set, you can make kahoots that aren't live.

The Trust No One mode can be used to be unmoderated chat, so I'll say no.

Kahoot requires a livestream for everyone to see the questions, so no (unless you have a student account and your class is playing Kahoot ). Gimkit should be fine as long as names/questions are appropriate and there's no streaming, although the Among Us mode requires chatting so that's a no-no.

Even if you use the Kahoot mode that doesn't use live play, which is just sad and painful, it would still be a hard no for the same reason all polling and quiz-making sites are banned: they're near impossible to moderate. Kahoot codes are even harder, as once the game is over a moderator can't see what the questions were.

Now that GKit has better moderation and censors many words now, I just want to know if it’s allowed because every time there’s a GKit question topic, it gets closed with no scratch team messages. I decided to keep the conversation here so I don’t get accused of “duping”.

Edit: The chat was heavily reworked last season, so it’s not unmoderated anymore.
