(None of this matters until January 3rd, 2024)

Pixel Mania is a branching fractal-like drawing made up of small square pixel-art images. Participating artists create images that split either their other images or other artists' images from the inside-out. This creates a forever branching structure.

Pixel Mania is one of my many projects on Scratch.

And here are the guidelines you must follow when adding to it:

. Participants must be signed up to or joining Scratch.

.Contributors can't choose pieces for other contributors.

. Each piece on Pixel Mania has to be 64 pixels wide by 64 pixels tall.

. Pieces will be split into two equal halves being added to.

. Reservation times for each piece will be 16 hours, with in-progress saving allowed. Participants can't pause their reservation at all.

. Contributors can't add a piece directly “adjacent” to one of their own pieces, from now on.

. Colour palettes will be limited to between 2 to 16 colours.

. Colour palettes can change between (-colour palette+2) to (16-colour palette) colours in adjacent pieces.

Most of these parameters can be loosened or tightened overtime.

And also the instructions:

If you want to add a new piece to Pixel Mania,
a collaborative art project, you must ask me, Bill-0 or
Esecenima in the comments, the Forum or my/their
profile and request the piece you're selecting
with at least 1 (unreserved) spot (eg. #016_dacreatif2)
and the direction you're expanding it. (horizontal or vertical).

If I'm OK with your request, start a new project just to
make a new piece for Pixel Mania, if you don't have any
pieces already and download the “parent” piece you've
been assigned first. To do this, Either export the piece
you're assigned by right-clicking its sprite once, then
left-click export (if you don't know how) and upload it in
your project.

Make sure you're in bitmap doing the following:

Cut the “parent” piece in half in the appropriate direction,
then you move either half towards the appropriate edge
until it, the sprite size is 96x64 (if it's horizontal) or 64x96
(if it's vertical), then you move the other half until the sprite
size is 128x64 or 64x128 (if it's either horizontal or vertical
respectively).

Now for the fun part. Create a 64x64 pixel painting in between
the “parent” piece's halves for reference, but your palette is
limited to the that of the “parent” piece, but you can change up
to 16 minus the number of colours the “parent' piece has
colours, in other words, your colour palette can differ by up to
7 if the ”parent“ piece has 9 colours in its palette.

Once your piece is finished, get rid of the ”parent“ piece but not
any part of the ”child" piece. If you do so perfectly, you can share
this project just to send the project to me by putting the link in
the comments in Pixel Mania, so I can add the piece to Pixel Mania.
After all that, immediately unshare this project until you request
for another piece and finish it.

You may! just go to the project and find a piece with at least 1 OPEN slot.

I choose to expand #030_DCF horizontally.

Is there a goal you’re trying to achieve by the end of the year or something like that?

The goal is 256 pieces regardless of when it will be achieved. (139 to go)
