I feel like this would cut down on the number of people who say they were banned for no reason

IP addresses are sometimes shared by large numbers of people (schools, coding camps, etc.). We can't go into a lot of detail in messaging - we usually need to hear from whomever is in charge of the network.

Also, the ST will not disclose any information regarding a ban.

Thus, an IP Ban = Internet Protocol ban (or network ban if you please)

Protocol, in computer science, a set of rules or procedures for transmitting data between electronic devices, such as computers.

Each network has a certain IP (the numbers range from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255). If the Scratch Team bans one of these IPs, it will block access to Scratch on all devices using that network.

If someone else accessed your IP while using scratch, they would know why you were banned, basically like publicly announcing why someone is banned. The ST does not do this, so this is probably the reason that they have not implemented this already.
