(See Post)
Tada!

Suggestion:
When a post is quoted and is snipped or from a long time ago, people might want to see the original post. Therefore, I suggest that quoted post link back to the post when they're quoted.

BBCode:
[quote=(username);(post id)][/quote]
username = Username of the user who posted the original post
post id = The numbers at the end of the post's URL

Solution:
Add “(See Post)” to the end or beginning of the quote, or link the “wrote” part

What would happen to existing quotes?
They would stay the way they are. You would also still be able to make quotes without linking, by just not including the ;(post id) part of the quote.

Thoughts?

Couldn't you just do what you did there in that example?

Couldn't you code everything in the most simplistic form?

Instead of
change x by (10)
you could just do
go to x: ((x position) + (10)) y: (0)

Just because there is a workaround, doesn't mean we have to use it. Although, in terms of convenience, that may work more. I don't think it would be very easy because it just doesn't make sense why you can't just use the entire link. That's why I semi-support. There are quite a lot of quotes that people put in which I want to see more of the original post, as well as the topic. But, I do think it would be quite pointless.

Support. On larger threads it can be almost impossible to find posts and this would stop people from needing to go through vast amounts of pages.

I don't really think this would be very useful, when you quote someone, usually the post is directly above or it's a few posts higher. Or a page.

Well, if someone has just found a large topic, they might go to a random page and find one of the posts there interesting- therefore quoting it (like I did with the ACNH topic).

i don't think the few extra words in a quote is going to take too much more server space, and i'm fairly certain this should be a very simple fix. (just modify the part of s2forums that does quotes i'm fairly sure…)

you could say “t would be really useful, but at the same time it might take up server space and the ST might not have the resources to implement this.” about pretty much any suggestion if you think about it.

Actually, "(see post)" is really clunky. Maybe it should be like

That way everything is compact. Also, I think it should be automatic. Support because this would make finding quoted posts easier. The forums haven't been updated in some time though..

But what about a quote that doesn't even exist. Because you can just type [quote=]text[/quote] and write whatever you want in the middle.

Maybe when you click the quote button under a post it would save the link into the generated BBCode that comes from clicking that button.

That's my thought — this system doesn't have to cover every case, but it would be helpful if it provided a link for the ones that you clicked ‘quote’ on.
