Variables category
Currently, the Variables category contains variables and list blocks. I don't know why this was made in 3.0. It makes more sense if it was called “Data”, or if they were split into 2 different categories, Variables and List (although I like the first idea better).
I want the Variables category to be changed to Data.
I expect to see a dupe…..

Um… support? I won‘t be too active on projects but this needs to be changes.

Probably a dupe, bu I dunno. I find the idea good. When I made two dimensions, I had three screens full of variables.

support. much more user friendly. i didn't even know what lists were because I thought only variables were in that section

Support! They are both types of data in programming, so re-naming it will make it easier to understand.

It was called Data in 2.0 and they probably didn't change it without a reason.

In scratch 2.0, the Variables category, was named data. I think this makes more sense as opposed to Variables, as lists are also there.

But not all variables are necessarily data. Semi-Support.

You don't need to quote the OP.In scratch 2.0, the Variables category, was named data. I think this makes more sense as opposed to Variables, as lists are also there.haha I wish lists had their own catagory.

But not all variables are necessarily data. Can you give an example of when a variable is not data?

oh, so you tried to fool me with your block that's longer than the forum, hmm? Well it turns out I quoted your post. Nice try.But not all variables are necessarily data. Can you give an example of when a variable is not data?set [Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down, Never gonna run around and desert you, Never gonna make you cry, Never gonna say goodbye, Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you v] to [1]
That's data. you literally set it to 1, which is data.

All variables are data, unless you decide to treat the exception like the rule by setting a variable to nothing.
Anyways support because lists and variables are different, but they're both best classed under data

Variables and lists aren't the only form of data. If you change a sprite's costume, or y position, or start up a sound, etc. that all creates data. Data is everywhere. Reporters from other categories provide as much data as variables do. And I know that handling variables and lists are commonly referred to as data (not to mention it was called “data” in 2.0, I can't even remember..) and other categories by their categories, but this is not even leaving behind the *very* indirect path to thinking outside the box.
No support. We should add lists instead..
