Allow banned users to look at their profile and messages
This topic is pretty self-explanatory, but I will go more in-depth about it.
When an account is banned, you can only see three pages: The banned page, the community guidelines, and Contact Us (I'm not 100% sure if the last one is true).
I realize the point of a ban is to punish a user for doing bad things. But to be honest, the current ban system with those three pages is very limited. So I would like to propose the ability to see your profile and messages.
Basically, it works like this: Once a user has been banned, they will automatically be directed to the banned page.
When the user clicks on the messages button, it directs them to their inbox as normal.
When the user goes to their profile, it directs them to their profile as normal. The user would not be able to change their icon, About me/What I'm Working On, and the featured project. The user could then turn off comments on their profile if they wanted to, but will not be able to comment on their own profile.
And that's pretty much it. The user would still be unable to view other people's profiles, all projects, etc.
I'm sorry if this is a duplicate, I did not check for duplicates

Not sure how this would be beneficial. The purpose of a ban is to punish for bad things like you said.
You can see your profile if you're logged out, if you REALLY need to see your comments you can just log out and view there.

Yes, I realize there is that workaround for the profile. But some users (ex: New scratchers, young scratchers) don't know how to get to their profile when they are logged out. So there's that.

When you are banned, that means you've done something so bad that the Scratch Team doesn't want you on their website.
So, it makes sense that you should not be able to use the website at all, because it's supposed to be a punishment to teach you a lesson. If you are banned, you shouldn't be able to view the website no matter what, and I don't want that to change.
Any part of Scratch should be restricted when you are banned, because you aren't supposed to be using Scratch when you are banned.
So, I don't think Scratch should ease up the rules on banning to make it unlike a punishment.

But I mean, scratch is still very restricted when you're banned. Letting you view your own profile and messages won't ease up restrictions to the point where it is a punishment for less serious offenses.

That topic focuses on “My Stuff” and unshared project. This topic focuses more on viewing your messages and profile.

Same problem, same solution, differing processes. Plus, it mentions messages, and that is by far one of the slightest differences between the two topics. The main idea is that they solve “banned users can't use Scratch” by allowing banned users to see certain pages. The certain pages don't matter, so next time say "I spent a lot of time on my OP and don't want to be forced to use a dupe! :(" because at least you'll be honest.https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/287079/

Did you even read what I said? I looked at the topic. The other topic focuses on the project aspect, being that you should be able to unshare projects and edit unshared projects while under their “Phase 2” ban.
This topic focuses on being able to view your inbox and profile while under a “Phase 3” ban, as the other topic describes. Both of our topics are admittedly similar, but different enough to be their own topics.

Suggestions aren't set in stone – they can evolve over time through discussion. That's the whole point of a discussion forum.

“The user could then turn off comments on their profile if they wanted to, but will not be able to comment on their own profile.”
They would still be muted.

Not exactly. That's the case with permanent bans, but this topic isn't about permanent bans. Temporary bans are meant to be punishments, not as a way of the website saying “Get off this site until you've learned your lesson”

And being able to view your messages and profile would defeat the purpose of the punishment! Even with temporary bans, how would one even learn? People get banned for doing bad things, why would you even let them do this? When you are banned, that means you've done something so bad that the Scratch Team doesn't want you on their website. Not exactly. I have a question.
1. Can banned users not view their profile/messages? Wow, that's not good.
2. Where did you get the info about the fact that banned users can only view the banned page, etc?
3. Where is the banned page?
Ok, that was 3 questions.
Anyways, support. Banning users shouldn't mean they don't at least get access to their messages and what people are saying to them.

2. Where did you get the info about the fact that banned users can only view the banned page, etc?Whenever you are logged into a banned account, every page redirects to the ban message. It's public information as people have been banned before.

Can the ban message be viewed on a certain page (not unlike the 404 and 403 pages)? As I said, it redirects to the banned page, more specifically https://scratch.mit.edu/accounts/banned-response/. It redirects to the homepage if you are not banned, and if you are banned, every page redirects to it.
