Project not saving after uploading new sound

In a new project, I uploaded three different sounds from my computer. The first two uploaded fine and the project saved correctly. The third sound uploaded fine, but scratch “couldn't save the project.” After multiple attempts of “trying again,” I gave up. Why won't it save properly? The sound file i tried to upload isn't even that big of a file (and it's just a normal .wav file). Please fix this!!!
when I receive [helpful advice v]

idk how to fix it, but i'll take a guess:
-You uploaded too much sound that ended up a big files that cause scratch to crash
-Your computer/whatever electronic device is lagging, causing scratch to crash
That's all i can guess….hope maybe this can help solve your problem, though it's unlikely…

Project not saving after uploading new sound

There is a 10 MB asset size limit that applies to all costumes and sounds in your projects. Any file that goes over that size (particularly audio files) will cause the project to not save. You can fix this by compressing your WAV file into an MP3 file to make it smaller, shortening the sound or splitting it into multiple chunks.

So, how would I be able to compress the WAV file into an MP3 file?

By using an online converter like this one: https://audio.online-convert.com/convert/wav-to-mp3

Project not saving after uploading new sound

Hi @GoogleInScratch

The reason that your project is not saving is because the sound file is too large. Generally, WAV files are pretty big, and if you have too many large sound files in your project, it will refuse to save.
My suggestion would be to convert your sound files to MP3 files, as they are much more lightweight. If you have MP3 files, you can fit a lot more sound into your project.
It's easy to find an online converter. Just Google “wav to mp3” and you can find lots of options. Here is the converter I use…

Hope this helps!

By the way, if you want to save the project offline, download the project and download the Scratch app. Put the project in the Scratch app and it should save quickly.

If it doesn't work even when it is an MP3, try splitting the file into two parts on scratch. It's a hack that works!

I keep putting the music even though it's below 10 MB, and my projects won't even save.

What type of files are they? Generally mp3 is best, WAV is okay if the files aren't too big. Anything else is a bit difficult.
