Why does "=)" come out as an emoji?
You see, if you type "=)“ on the forums, it comes out as
But if you type ”=P" on the forums, it looks normal.
Why is this?

It's probably an overlooked design flaw – maybe this could be moved to Bugs and Glitches to inform the Scratch Team and the Scratch developers.

Well-
“ ”

“ ”
”
“ ”
”
Basically, any emoji starting with a colon will receive the emoji form of it.

But- wait, it works with the equal-sign variant as well- or at least in theory.
“ ”
”
“=P”
“ ”
”
But for some reason, using =P does not work. So this should be moved to the Bugs and Glitches forum by chance.
*Quote the message to see I used colons and equal signs because if it has been automatically converted

works because it was added to look like the smiley emoji, but =P wasn't added purposely for some reason.

The DjangoBB forgot to implement “=P”, like they forgot to update their service for the past four years.

Even though that emoticon isn't as popular as the regular, Scratch still supports “ ”.

The equals sign only works for the regular. You have to use colon for the other.
