When did the first version of Scratch appear?

The first version of Scratch to go public, 1.0, released sometime in early 2007, either around February or on May 15, 2007. It's a bit ambiguous.

Or if you want to go as far back before Scratch 1.0, there were some early builds such as Scratch 0.1, made in 2004.

Go here to find a list of archived Squeak versions and the online 2.0 editor (which dies in 2021).
Squeak was quite small back then, and Etoys was probably the only other thing made in 2007.

The idea started in 2003, and 1.0 was released in 2007.
Scratch does a major update every 6 years so 2.0 came out in 2013, and 3.0 in 2019. 4.0 is set to come out in 2025.

How do you know this? 2.0 came out because Squeak (the program the editor was written in) was getting old, and 3.0 came out because flash was going to drop support after 2020. It's merely a coincidence that they all happened 6 years apart

0.1 is the first version and 1.0 is the first version would be on public

To answer this topic, the actual exact date scratch first appeared (development wise) is October 11th of 2003 in the 11Oct03 version.
