This would be a cool feature - I would be interested to see how the forum-using community is growing as well.

My concern is, even if forum metrics were accepted as a feature, it is such a small part of the Scratch universe that I doubt it would get a very high priority from the developers. There's a lot that needs to be done.

I will leave this open for now so that the suggestion can be further refined - and we'll see if there is interest from the rest of the team.

I think maybe the average posts per topic could have a category for each forum then a category for all.
If the ST implements this, then it wouldn't feel right for it to be so specific for the forums when for the rest of the site it's very general. Especially about the activity of users I think so much more could be added there. Maybe for now it could be the forums in general? (but still good to discuss :P)

I'm also not to sure about average posts per topic as there will be lots of low post count topics and a couple large post count topics that could make the average quite a strange number.
Agreed. Strange as in inaccurate, since there's a big gap in the middle and taking an average wouldn't make sense at all. That's why I think instead there should be a graph for OP:Post ratio to users with that ratio! So we can see how diverse each user is getting among the topics, if they post frequently in the same topics or spread out more. Since 1:1 is the limit that should probably be the start of the graph, and the posts per topic for a user go up in the graph. This would be much more useful and accurate imo with a good general overview.
[oh wow it turned the ":P“ in ”OP:Post" into the emoji XD]

XD true, but not displayed on the official statistics page.

I don't see how those three things are too specific.

I'm not saying they're too specific, but compared to the graphs already in place on the statistics page they are.
edit: badly worded post XP they're good ideas, and I do think they should be added, but I feel like they should add more stats about user activity first.
