The ST develops and moderates this site. They know what they put on there and they know what they don't put on there. They've made the conscious decision to add Google Analytics to this site.
I can't explain the Verizon tracker, though - that doesn't show up on my machine and I'm 99.9% sure that the ST didn't put that there. Potential causes include your ISP spying on you by injecting tracking code into pages, or an extension spying on you by injecting tracking code into pages.

It's not my ISP or an extension because it doesn't appear on other sites.

I'm pretty sure this has happened before - they did have another tracker but took it down once it was reported… I'll try to find the topic.
Maybe it was put there for some sort of testing thing? I don't know.
Anyway, Google Analytics is probably because Google helps or funds them or something, and the deal was probably ‘if you give us all your user’s data we'll be nice to you' because google
I'm not saying anything against the ST or Google - I'm sure most people have tracker blockers installed and tbh the only thing they could steal from me that I care about are my passwords, and I think we'd all know if they tried to do that.

We also work with analytics providers, such as Google Analytics, which use cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information about use of the site and report on activities and trends.

as far as i know that browser extension should not be injecting trackers into the page, i'll ask world_language's thoughMaybe [browser extension], I had it on, tracker, off, no tracker (after browser restart)I can't explain the Verizon tracker, though - that doesn't show up on my machine and I'm 99.9% sure that the ST didn't put that there. edit: tried a fresh install of edge chromium with no browser extensions and i am seeing the verizon tracker

On the logged out homepage I see Google Analytics and some Wistia endpoint (distillery.wistia.com) blocked.

All Google analytics does is just how many users visit their site, how many per day, average visit length, and unique users. The ST develops and moderates this site. They know what they put on there and they know what they don't put on there. They've made the conscious decision to add Google Analytics to this site. Here's a meme why that's a big deal

While yes Google Analytics can track personal information, only the pool of users can only be viewed, and it can't be used to look at a certain person's information.

Looking at the network log, it seems that the Scratch news images are hosted on Tumblr?? And Tumblr's parent is Verizon Media.

it's kinda funny since im pretty sure the scratch team has the resources to run the news blog on their own site, but maybe Tumblr was chosen for convenience or somethingLooking at the network log, it seems that the Scratch news images are hosted on Tumblr??The news themselves are hosted on Tumblr: https://blogscratch.tumblr.com/
