When Scratch is down for maintenance, there is a link to Scratch's twitter. Is that breaking the guidelines?

No, that's merely a notice that Scratch is down. It just shows one tweet, so I assume it's ok.

The ST doesn't private message people I believe, and their Twitter is all family friendly. It's the same as linking a youtube which while there is inappropriate stuff elsewhere if your channel doesn't have bad stuff its allowed.

I was just about to ask the same thing! I was going to ask @z-chary as he normally responds to most of his profile comments but he's currently on hiatus so he turned them off ^^

Although the ST aren't going to use inappropriate language and topics, they can't control the replies and so on. Plus if a child was to click onto the tweet it leads them to the website which could then lead them to find different hashtags, accounts and tweets which could contain language I'm not sure what to think!!

I think they can delete replies to tweets but I've never been on the toxic dumpster fire that is Twitter.

The Tweet thing shows up very rarely, and it would be pretty difficult to “accidentally” click on the tweet and then explore the rest of twitter.

Today, scratch was on and off maintenance for over an hour, and with so many kids on scratch around the world, at least some of them would have clicked on it.

dear god, it's almost like a child would have to purposely be looking at the replies and reading every single reply to find that, because you have to manually click the comments button on a tweet to see more than like 3 comments!

anyways, youtube links are allowed if it doesnt link to inappropriate content, and im guessing its the same thing as twitter

Nope, we don't usually allow Twitter links at all.

We use Twitter for social media and outreach purposes. It's owned by the collective Scratch Team rather than an individual person; that is, the Twitter account represents an organization rather than a person.

If it answers the question, suppose that I, as a Scratch Team member, made a personal Twitter account. I would not be allowed to share that Twitter account on the Scratch website, no matter how appropriate I try to make it.
