Projects that get more than 100 loves in it's first 24 hours don't show up on Trending

Look at the title.
This bug means that people like huntedskelly, sharkyshar, and even griffpatch can't get on the Trending page anymore, because their projects usually get very popular in 1 day.
This needs to be fixed.

I believe the trending page only updates every 12-24 hours. I'm probably wrong.
I do recall a scratch team member saying this doesn't exist, which I will believe, but maybe there is a filter of some sort to stop resharing?

It does exist, but I don't think the ST is fully aware of it. For example, Za-Chary's new game Topological Space got over 300 loves in its first 24 hours, yet it didn't appear on the Trending page. It still got on top loved though. So this even applies to Scratch Team members (Za-Chary is a Scratch Team member) And the trending page updates every 12 hours, I checked before.

afaik the secrets to how the trending page work are only known by the developers in the ST - I'm pretty sure people like Za-Chary who are part of the moderation side of the ST aren't given the information, just like all of us.

I'm also going to assume that filters against resharing have been put on as I've heard it's a big issue over there, although they could do it a lot better if projects kept track of every time they were unshared and reshared, and then that could be used to prevent a month or more old project from getting trending because it was reshared without requiring that cutoff of 100 in 1 day.

This has nothing to do with the reshare glitch. This is another glitch with the Trending page.

What if they're coincidentally getting pushed down by all the other projects on Trending before it updates?

I don't think it's a coincidence, as this has been happening with the same types of projects for months.

Maybe because the scratch.api is slow and does updates every week to 2 days?

Nope. From what I know, the trending page updates every 12 hours, not every week, or 2 days.

That's strange, must be a server cutout…

Or maybe the change could have been intentional, but I don't know why they would have done that. Maybe to get a greater variety of projects, instead of projects showing by the same people every time?

This needs to be confronted, for sure.

In the meantime, while we wait for this to be fixed, I'd suggest just not adding projects to studios or even setting it as your featured project until the next day…It won't completely fix the problem and wouldn't help a lot of people who always get 100 loves in a day, but it's currently the best option for a lot of people, I think.

Even if the Scratch team knows/knew about this, I don’t know if they would fix it because they might want less known Scratchers to get views instead of famous Scratchers (no offense)

I think they should fix it, because the whole point of the Trending page is to show what projects are trending in the community. I don't think they should exclude popular Scratchers, like griffpatch, huntedskelly, and sharkyshar, out of it.

I agree, but I don’t really know what the Scratch Team thinks.

Not even ceebee or Za-Chary, who are members of the Scratch Team, get their own projects on Trending anymore, because most of them get too popular to get on there. I think they would want to fix this glitch if their own projects can't get on Trending anymore.
