FAQ:

General Questions:

Q: What is scratch?
A: Scratch is a programming language used to make projects using scripting and art

Q: Is there a way to download Scratch 2.0
A: Yes, they have released the downloadable version right here

Q: What do I make with scratch?
A: You can make a lot of things! Stories, Animations, and games. For Ideas you can go here

Q: What is the New Scratcher status?
A: Go here


Questions about Projects:

Q: Can I delete comments?
A: You can, but only on your projects. If you comment something on someone else's project, only the creator can delete it, so be careful about what you say

Q: What are love-its?
A: Love-Its are a way of telling someone you like their project

Q: What are Favorites?
A: Favorites are a way to show that a project is one of your top favorite projects. You can get to your favorites on your profile page

Q: What if I want to work on my project but don't want anyone else to see it?
A: To do this you can work on the project then save it but not share it. This way only you can see it

Q: My project isn't appearing on my profile page?
A: Go to your project icon (The folder with the orange S near the top right) and find your project in there. On the side you will see a button that says “share” click on this and now you and other people will be able to see it

Q: How do I look at someones scripting for a project that isn't mine?
A: Go the the top right of the project page and you will see a blue button that says “See Inside” this allows you to see the scripting of the project and all of it's sprites


Questions about Remixing:

Q: What is Remixing?
A: Remixing is a way to edit or use someones project while giving them credit

Q: What is the Remix Tree and how does it work?
A: The Remix Tree is a graph that will show you all of the remixes of one project. The one at the bottom of the tree is the original, the ones at the top are remixes

Q: I don't want people to Remix my project, what do I do?
A: Scratch's guidelines say that you must allow people to remix your project, just as you might remix someone else's. The Remix Tree allows scratchers to give credit, so you have nothing to worry about

Q: Can I remix my own Project? How?
A: Yes you can. Go to the project of yours you would like to remix. Under “File” There should be something that says “Save as Copy” Press on this before working on it, and it will save it as a copy


Questions about Studios:

Q: What are Studios?
A: Studios are a way to group certain projects and allow people to comment on them

Q: What type of Studios are there?
A: There are studios for RPGs, Studios where you can add any project, Studios for less popular projects, Studios for Collabs, and more

Q: Whats a Curator and how do I add one to a studio?
A: A curator is someone who can edit the same things a the owner (delete projects, add projects, delete comments, and edit the description). To add them, click the button that says “Invite Curators” under the Curators tab in a studio

Q: How do I add a project to a studio?
A: To add a project, you can go to the project and press the button that says “add to” below the project screen and pick the studio OR you can press the button that says “Add Projects” Under the Project tab in a studio


Questions about the Forums:

Q: What are the forums used for?
A: The forums are used to talk about scratch and other things

Q: Where should I ask for help with my scripts?
A: They have a whole section of the forums for this right here

Q: Where can I get the latest news about Scratch?
A: here

Q: Why must I wait 180/60 seconds?
A: The Scratch Team decided to add this to prevent spammers

Q: Why do I have to wait 180 seconds and not 60?
A: As a new scratcher the Scratch Team needs to get to know you better. Once your a full Scratcher, you only wait 60 seconds

Q: Where can I discuss things non Scratch related?
A: You can go here to make a topic about things your reading or playing that Inspire you. Or go here to talk about things that you are creating or making besides things scratch related

Q: Where can I show off my great projects?
A: this is the Show and Tell forums where you can post a topic about your projects!


Questions about the Front Page:

Q: What is a curator?
A: Someone who chooses good projects that suit their interests

Q: How can I get front paged?
A: If you have a good project, you can get their for having it remixed a lot, loved a lot, featured, or curated

a GIF is a moving picture that you can either take from the internet or make. I've never made one but I now people who have/ I hear it's difficult to make a very high quality one. I know you can use things like GIMP and other programs to make them but thats all. If you want to get on off of the interent go to the google (or bing or whateves) bar and look up “(item) GIF” like if I wanted a cat GIF I would look up “Cat GIF” then go to images and find results. they won't move unless you click on it to see it. Then you need to right click and you will see “copy Image URL”. click on that and then paste it into the signature area with the tags:
[img]  and  [/img]
