US Election Community Guidelines Reminder

Hi everyone,

In the United States, November 3rd is Election Day, where US citizens can exercise their right to vote for local and state officials as well as the President. While many Scratchers may not be eligible to vote in this election, we know that many of you are informed and engaged in politics and have strong opinions and beliefs around the US election.

The Scratch Team believes that young people like you are agents of change, and Scratch is still a safe place for you to share your political beliefs and feelings respectfully. We do want to remind you that even though tensions are running high and you may be feeling stressed, angry, frustrated, or scared, it’s important to keep being kind and respectful on Scratch.

Scratch is a global community full of people with many different points of view. It’s not OK to insult or attack others on Scratch, even if they are supporting a candidate or political position you do not agree with. If you see someone sharing their own political opinion, it is not an invitation to argue, debate, or attack them for it.

If you are unable to stop yourself from posting disrespectful things when you see someone discussing a candidate or opinion you don’t like, we highly encourage you to stay away from spaces where people are discussing that candidate or opinion. Activities like raiding studios or targeted harassment of Scratchers are not very welcoming to others and can cause your account to be permanently blocked.

And as always, remember that Scratch welcomes people of all backgrounds. It is never appropriate to make statements that are critical of any people or groups of people based on their race, age, sexual orientation or gender identity. See the Community Guidelines for more information.

If you see anyone posting anything disrespectful or unwelcoming, please do not respond and report the behavior right away. The Scratch Team will take care of it. It’s what we’re here to do!

You’re always welcome to show your support for whatever you’re passionate about through respectful projects, and we highly recommend you do so if you’re looking for ways to express yourself in the coming days. Thank you for helping keep Scratch a kind, supportive, and safe place for everyone.
