Scratch´s Rules Feel A Bit..Restrictive
There are some rules in Scratch that just feel..restrictive. I know that it´s because Scratch is ¨For all Ages¨ but it annoys me nonetheless. For example, personally want to make a project that requires people to fill out a google From, but as I´ve been told it´s against the rules due to Scratch not allowing links to outside websites with unmoderated chat. That´s to keep kids from seeing anything inappropriate, of course, but still….
And I have to admit, I´m a bit of a gore lover! I like horror art, edgy stuff, creepy stuff, all that schmuck. That´s obviously not allowed on Scratch
Naturally, peoples´ first reaction to this would be ¨leave Scratch!¨ or ¨Guess Scratch isn´t for you then¨
But honestly, I love Scratch! I used to come on here a bit ago and nostalgia just drew me back in.
I can´t speak for most of the Art Community that leaves Scratch and moves on to other websites, but I kinda believe that Scratch feeling restrictive is part of the reason why. I used to be on here and all of the artists and other folk that I remember just kinda….moved on.
Maybe Scratch could ease up on these rules just a tiny bit?
Now obviously if Scratch were to change it would be hard. There undoubtedly a lot of younger folk on this website and we want to keep their innocence, but it´s hard to make some ¨genius age moderation system that can sense your bones and WOOOOO WEEEEEEEE¨ but it would be nice to have, especially for folk that are just a little bit older in age.
This feels like more of a vent now
I guess what I´m really saying is that I´m salty that I can´t post gore or advertise my link to a google form on this website lol

Well, some 4 year olds use scratch. If it isn't something you'd show to a young audience, it's not ok
Google forms collect personal information such as emails and are unmoderated. Google forms are a very very bit no no, as they are potentially very dangerous, not because of inappropriate content. Google forms shows the emails of everyone who completed the form and those are DEFINITELY not allowed.
I'm not very sure what your suggestion is, but it seems to be on the border of being rejected.

It's suspicious that this is the third or fourth account with “He/Him ⚧️ ⚧️ ⚧️ They/Them” in their About Me and was created mere minutes ago, and posting on the forums complaining about aspects of Scratch. Almost as if there's a troll creating multiple alt accounts to push a certain message…

I've seen people link to Google Forms before. Doesn't mean it's allowed but it happens a lot.
I don't really see a suggestion here though, because we all seem to understand the problems with changing the rules.
The best option here is to start an account on a different site, maybe DeviantArt, and post your content there. You won't be able to interact with the community on this site or link between profiles, but it's something.
(I feel your pain as a major psychological horror fan ;-; )
Edit: auto-emoji why?

Oh, is that why I felt deja vu looking at the About Me? I guess alt accounts would explain why this user has an opinion on the community despite the account being less than an hour old.

I guess I just wanted to shake my salt shaker about it, especially seeing a lot of former artists that I like on here move on.

Scratch has been running this way for 13 years: since 2007. I don't think that Scratch Team is planning on updating the rules anytime soon. I know that it´s because Scratch is ¨For all Ages¨ but it annoys me nonetheless.
Would you want an 8-year old to see some inappropriate things that other social media sites don't offer? No.
Besides, most people don't even feel a restriction. For example:
And, I completely agree with what i dont feel a restriction.@fdreef said:

And I appreciate you pointing out the obvious. I hope you feel better in some way, shape, or form! You changed me forever, so good job.

Hi Joker-Card/PowersThatBee/TooManySheeple/TheSheeple/FreedomIsALie/Australiens/EvilAndLemonic/-Australien-/LemonicSorcery/LemonicWizardy, LemonicBeing/LemonicWarlock/ALemonicBeing
Scratch is open to users of all ages, including young kids, so the rules are naturally going to be more restrictive than many other sites. If you feel the rules are too restrictive, you might want to rethink if the Scratch website is a good fit for you or not.
