Quick Question
I was just wondering what the max size a sound file can be to be downloaded into scratch. I was just trying to import an old tune I made some years ago in school on my old soundcloud account but it doesn't seem to ever finish importing the file.
The ones I'm trying to upload are 3.3 MB and 1.5 MB, One is about 1 minute long and the other is 2 minutes long.
I'm starting to wonder if they are possibly too big. The file type is MPEG audio for both of them and I downloaded them onto my laptop and then tried uploading them into scratch. If they are too large is there some sort of way to cut or trim them down into shorter files?

Quick Question
over 10MB, do not import songs bigger than half the project size limit (5MB?)Actually a Scratch project CAN be over 10MB. It's just that it can't go over the 5MB .json limit (basically the code) and EACH asset (image, sound) can't be over 10MB. a scratch project cannot be
So for example you can have 15 sounds, all 9MB, but you can't have 1 sound that is 11MB.
Hopefully that makes sense.

Literally, the wiki article you linked says this

In Scratch 3.0, all assets must be under 10 MB, and the project JSON must be under 5 MB. There is no explicit limit on project filesize, but with the (otherwise) smallest possible project containing as many assets as possible, the largest a project can be while remaining within the explicit limits is 318 GB.
Anyway, the only reason I can think of is the file type doesn't work. try converting your music to a .mp3 file, or .wav file, and see what happens.

Wait your sound clips were 3.3mb and 1.5mb right?
I just uploaded a 3.5mb audio clip and it worked.
Maybe it's the file type?

Quick Question
Oh I changed the file type and It worked thank you very much, I tried converting its size but the size converter also said it was an invalid file type so I tried renaming it to wav and it worked. I'll just import that one file though so I don't overwork the projects limit.over 10MB, do not import songs bigger than half the project size limit (5MB?)Actually a Scratch project CAN be over 10MB. Quick Question
Thank you guys for the help, I successfully imported and file and got it into my project!
Is there any way to turn off my post or mark it as resolved?

You have to wait 24 hours, and a button saying “close” will appear at the bottom, but there's actually a quicker way of doing that: reporting it as “resolved” Thank you guys for the help, I successfully imported and file and got it into my project!
