Why are most Scratch animations generic now?
no offence to anyone but theyre like 5 seconds longWhat makes you say they are not well-done?Its a rather controversial topic.I'm not saying they're bad. I'm saying that there's so much of it, that more well-done projects are often obscured.
Personally, I don't see what's wrong with the animators, rather the community is the one who likes these kinds of animations which motivates the creator to make more of that kind.
You can go blaming the community if you'd like to.
Everything in the explore page is liked by people, so basically you can't say its not good enough or anything.
People like that kind of style because its very easy to make-If people had grabbed on to another art style you'd make this same topic but with another style lol.
I'm pretty sure the well made animations are given the attention they require.
not all get “the attention they require” if u get popular somehow, then u get the views, else youre stuck with show and tell and studio adding which gives u like 4 views now, unless u use said trendy artstyle
but honestly its pretty relatable and is enjoyable, but theyre aiming for comedic value, the animation has none, sadly

But as I said before its not the creators fault and its the community that generally doesn't view that kind of animations.
Honestly I know a ton of good animators with ‘'Non-generic’' content but no one views it because they aren't comfortable with that kind of animations.
And once again this topic is very controversial and I suggest it to be closed, but its totally upto the OP.

Why are most Scratch animations generic now?
Because ever since Scratch 3.0, people have become fame-hungry to the point where they make the exact same thing someone else did to become popular.

Because ever since Scratch 3.0, people have become fame-hungry to the point where they make the exact same thing someone else did to become popular.Interesting, I was under the impression that lots of people were like this in Scratch 2.0 as well, and possibly even Scratch 1.4.

Why are most Scratch animations generic now?
I think this question is similar to that of “why are there so many generic platformers”. I think these types of projects tend to be low-effort and high-reward. It's relatively easy to make (and mass-produce) a rather mediocre animation of that sort, and let's be honest, the majority of users aren't going to tell the difference between a mediocre animation and a good one. Since many famous animators animate in this style, people try to imitate them, which the simplicity of the style facilitates; and since this style becomes so widespread, it turns into the “norm” and becomes appealing to many people. At least, that's my theory on the subject.

Why are most Scratch animations generic now?
From my perspective, it's always been an issue; it's just that now that there's a lot more people on the site, some of whom will follow that path if they decide to stick around on Scratch for longer than their school's CS courseI think it got a lot worse since 3.0Because ever since Scratch 3.0, people have become fame-hungry to the point where they make the exact same thing someone else did to become popular.Interesting, I was under the impression that lots of people were like this in Scratch 2.0 as well, and possibly even Scratch 1.4.

Why are most Scratch animations generic now?
This one of the reasons why I am sad that most of the older, funniest, creative animators/scratcher have gone mostly inactive. I just made this project here to show a reference of everyone being the same. (I did that ‘cause I don’t have a good way to put images on the forums.) @TNTsquirrel was one of my favorite scratchers until he just… left. (It seems his quality also dropped near the end of his scratch life, but, um…. in a different way then most people sort of. In fact, I prefer his bitmap animations to vector.) ANYway, what I am trying to say is as the older animators and scratchers left, it seems their QUALITY left WITH them. So now, people make animations with white blobs, round white heads, derpy faces, and one-word titles written with KewlTeextdotcomb. It's like the generic platformers of animating!
However, what I am NOT saying is they need to end. I a becoming pretty much only semi-active on scratch now anyway, so I just ignore the front page and anything else that is not about the forums now and use the forums only.

Why are most Scratch animations generic now?
I don't ever animate in vector but I assume it's a lot of tweening? I haven't really watched these animations either lol. I would assume tweening in vector is a lot easier than frame-by-frame animation. Just know there are users like Petalssilversteam that do nice animations.

Why are most Scratch animations generic now?
(answering the title) Because they can be.
Ignore the fact that I said that because I only do stickmen
You can create great animations just with stickmen though (eg. Jocers on scratch, Alan Becker on youtube), as you can with more “generic” styles. It just depends on what you do with them. As other people have said, WazzoTV popularized the style we see today, but those animations are really good and actually pretty funny.

Why are most Scratch animations generic now?
My best answer is - It’s a trend. Lots of people go onto the trending page, and they see a lot of animations like you described. They want to do it, so they do, and end up getting on trending. It goes on and on…

It depends on what you call generic.
I think the op was pretty clear on what they considered generic.

Why are most Scratch animations generic now?
Its easy for people who are new to animation because of how simple it is. A lot of scratchers don't realise how vector art can be more complicated, yet still simple. Another reason may be that most famous scratchers use this style. The only famous scratcher that doesn't is @berricake.

There are many “famous” scratchers who don't use this.
