Scratch Team, you have some trouble.

Don't worry, a lot of these reviewers have a lack of critical thinking and thus will not amount to anything. Scratch will safely continue as it has.
I mean it is on the kid's reviews. And thank god the parent reviews are less toxic-

Yep, except

Great set up for pedophiles and bullies
My child was bullied by a classmate making mean comments. She told us about this after the bully told her to kill herself. The site ends up being used more like a chat room with strangers from all over the world. You have no idea who your child may be talking to and there is no way to control who has contact with your child. Perfect for pedophiles. I have blocked this site on all computers and sent many appeals to the school system where we live not to use scratch for coding, but they just say it's great (it's free). The school where my daughter goes didn't even suspend the child who told my daughter to kill herself. The only help scratch offers is to report a problem and they may or may not ban a user. This is a potentially dangerous site for children and preteens.

Like a quarter of the adult reviews are from kids.

They are just that… honest reviews from parents and kids for other families to view and decide.
After reading the reviews, here are my thoughts.

Indeed, bans can seem very unfair if you don't understand the reasoning. And yes, there are many unspoken rules that can get you in trouble.
And, as many reviews mentioned, the ST is not afraid to state their opinions on politics, and encourages others to express themselves in ways that some people, particularly Christians and/or conservatives, find un-comfortable or inappropriate for children.

So in a way, the reviews aren't wrong; they are just a bit one-sided.

Common Sense Media Scratch
Just to let you know, Common Sense Media is pretty unreliable, as anyone can make a review (like Metacritic), and it's critically panned by most internet users.

You see, common sense media likes destroying kid's childhoods.
And then all the kid reviews are being annoyed on being banned.

It's not really destroying, it's really just feedback from kids and parents.

That's…… shocking. wow, people hate Scratch.

There are a few flaws but it's nothing to cry over..
People get really mad about Scratch I guess..

well I mean in all honesty a lot of people have a valid reason to “hate” scratch, Im not going to get deeply into this for obvious reasons, but the programming community (text-based programming and not just people that learn python and stuff) doesnt really consider scratch as an actual programming language (technically it is tho, but practically it kinda isnt (no offence to anyone I am willing to elaborate why)) and because so many people say stuff like “I program in scratch” certain people get annoyed because of various reasons, one thing is also that on scratch the mentalltiy that simple os good, you know with scratch policies (dont think thats the word im looking for) everyone is taught that scratch being so simple is a good thing which I dont have a problem with at all, but in a sense it can be frustrating to see how people dont always realize that in programming its not about simplicity in most cases (in some yes you dont want to write a 100+ line program for something that could be done in 20 lines, your code should not be overlly verbose) but more for what is going to suit your needs, its easy to create a website using just frontend, but lets say you need backend one day then using python for certain things might not be the right choice, it might be simpler, but you can achieve more with node so it depends tbh, but as I said the text-based programming community does not really consider scratch to be a proper “programming-language” even though factually it is. But in all honesty i dont use scratch for “coding” (well more recently I am interested in creating more complex algorthmic projects) I use it for animating and because of my friends on here, I use repl.it for coding.

bc Ik some people might misunderstand me I want to make clear I have not said anything bad about scratch once in this post, just explaining others point of views.

tbh, most of them are over-exaggerated, but i will say that the community guidelines are a bit too tight like mentioned in the reviews.
that's all i agree with. i disagree with everything else.
I kinda agree with them just closing random topics. For example, they banned everyone who was in a wiki when community guidelines say, constructive critisism.
There is always a reason, they just don't do it randmly,if they disclosed why a person was banned, everyone would start hating that person.
Because they do this, they receive hate.

st dont ban people randomly (afaik) but they can ban people on accident and sometimes that results in people saying “st banned me for no reason” which is kinda true

well i mean my friend got banned for being an alternate account of me despite the conspicuous lack of any evidence of how this could possibly be the case

(bold text): Yeah, they just run along with what the ESRB or something. CSM isn't the best for reviews on a game, just go to steam and look for reviews.
(OP): I doubt the ST cares, It's not like parents will listen to kid reviews. (Some might tho)

Websites don't run with the ESRB. Since Scratch is free thanks to donors there is no way they could get a rating.

I think lots of these are about the users rather than the website itself. If anything, it's the viewer's fault for not reporting it. That's how moderation works.

Lots of the others are about poor moderating. Well, yet again, you need to report things that break the rules. It's not the Scratch Team's fault if you leave it in the dark.

Most of the reviews are stated about children who are confused and angry about their accounts.

One of the reviews said the ST does not believe in second chances. And another said scratch supports pedophilia. Some of these reviews have no place on Common Sense Media.
For the first one,st does believe in second chances cause thats why you can appeal after you are banned. Second one, it would happen if you argue with them instead of reporting them and let the st take care of them.
