This suggestion requires opinions!
When you make a project that goes over the limit for how big a project can be… you need to download it, but you can only share your Scratch projects on Scratch… and no one wants to have to email projects to other people, that's a pain. So just make a place in the forums, for people to share their downloaded projects
[sb3] file link from hosting site [/sb3]

there are multiple sites that host files, such as “mediafire”… IDK I just looked up file hosting services…

the suggestions that I found were to increase the editor, that isn't what this is…
this could turn Show & Tell into the next big thing!
I don't think that you'd need to download, I think that there should be a “forum-player”ish thing, I don't know,
Concept!
There are a lot of ways that some issues can be fixed! So please instead of just calling out issues, bring up a why to prevent that!
BEFORE YOU POST YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT PROJECTS DON'T SAVE WHEN THEY ARE TOO BIG, THIS IS TO MAKE IT SO THAT ST DOESN'T HAVE MASSIVE PROJECTS IN THEIR SERVERS JUST TO SCREW WITH THEM, YES PROJECTS CAN'T BE DOWNLOADED WHEN THEY AREN'T SAVED, BUT THAT IS MORE OF A BUG, AND THE OFFLINE EDITOR EXISTS

I feel like this would be too hard to moderate for the ST. If it's done in the simplest way possible, then there would be a lot of flaws- like Reporting, Inappropriate Content or even Harmful Links.

If this were to get added, then that forum would have to have lots of special features to fix the aforementioned issues. Then I could see it working, but there are probably more issues with this that I can't think of. I'd like to hear other people's responses.

I could see this being used for collaborations in that topic, so I support. It would just generally help Show/Tell and Collaborations become somewhat better. However, could you download any type of file from the button, or just a .sb3 file?

I think it should only host .sb3s to prevent people from downloading malware and that kind of stuff.

How will scratch detect if the file is a .sb3?

If you upload an .exe onto Cubeupload, it will say “Wrong file type”. Same thing.

it trys to play that file, and if it can't, it says “It must be a sb3 file”

I semi-support. While this seems like it may be cool, what if it is an inappropriate project? Perhaps it would have to be approved by the ST to be posted? But then that would probably cause a lot more work for the ST. Maybe an option to report the project in a drop-down by the button? But the file isn't yet removed from the computer, and what if a younger kid accidentally downloaded it and now is unsure how to remove it? Then their parents may see it, and get mad at them. But, I mean, this would be cool because maybe you could see larger projects easier. Anyway, once again, I see some pros and plenty cons. This is a good idea when said on paper, but in the real world, it may not end up being so great.

If you can think of another way to fix this problem, however, you may get my full support.

they can have the some algorithms go through the project to detect anything that could be inappropriate… it would be hard, but YT came up with a good system!
  • An AI reviews the Video (or in our case project)
  • if it gets reported/the creator says that it isn't inappropriate a manual review will happen
  • if it's good it will be monetized(or in our case, stay up), or if it's bad, demonetized(or in our case taken down)
I'm not saying that this is how it would be implemented, this is just the best way to do it!

Make sure to snip when quoting!

Yeah but, I think the OP says you're giving a link to a place where you can download, not directly uploading it to Scratch. So how would Scratch detect it?

Plus, you can just give a link to a file hosting place, and download it from there.

and I also just added something to the op about not having to download it!
