Hey I am teaching 3 different classes of kids Scratch 3.

They are using Windows 7 OS we have Scratch 3 installed fine but sometimes , very randomly with no warning when the pupil adds a new Sprite or background it cant be seen but displayed on the ‘background’ in top left is the sad face - sort of thing you get with Google web page is not responding.

Usually if the pupils shuts down/restarts this is solved and they can continue with their work. But there is no pattern. Its not the same machine time over, it doesn't happen every time

I myself have had no problem and find it impossible to recreate this issue

Very sporadic yet frustrating too

I wonder have any of you experienced this and do you have a solution or work around.

Windows 7 is not supported. I guess the computer does not have RAM to handle Scratch.

My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 85.0.4183.102, No Flash version detected

I Have No Problem Running Scratch 3 On Windows 10. You Could Try To Test Scratch On Windows 10 If You Have One
Or You Could Just Download An Older Version. For Windows 7 I Might Try Scratch 2.0

we are in the same situation with windows 7,
although i managed to have the same issue on win10 when i had scratch running in a very small window.

we also have an issue where it becomes impossible to type into any blocks with user fields,
eg

go to x: () y: ()

this sometimes fixes by switching sprites, then coming back,
but often a complete restart is necessary.

we're running with 8gb ram, so that doesnt seem to be the issue.

God yeah I forgot to mention that !!! same !! I was showing them control and to adjust the seconds - up / down, some couldn't type in. As you said a log out etc. Some good advice here but surely if it was a RAM thing they would fall regularly and you are using 8gb - ample surely.

I might go with Scratch 2 going forward just to limit any loss of learning and my stress/mental health levels ;0)

I have a windows 7 VM and am having the same issues, weird.

I have never had this problem, but probably you should install the latest scratch 3 and windows 10/11
