Come on, am I not clear enough? I am telling you: recently, within the last week created projects are indexed without much delay (max an hour), and older ones are not indexed at all, even after updates. At least, what I saw for the latest three weeks. Google, even though it's used as a search engine here, cannot be blamed for this pattern.
So tell me how Scratch controls what Google sees, again?

You've kind of confirmed yourself by showing that link? :} Otherwise ask Scratch admins, not me.
I am only saying that the Google engine itself does not care about the date of projects' creation and how/when it appears in the listings on Scratch.
So stop blaming Google for something it would not normally do.
That is all Google can't see - it doesn't include /projects/ You're implying that Scratch can control what projects show up, so I was just curious if you had any proof besides the indexing rate.

Proof??? What sort of proof you need? Logs from Scratch servers? LOL
I have seen this sort of pattern I described, plus my older projects stopped updating in the search results here on Scratch…
Besides, Scratch does surely filters its stuff the way they want it look like, I hope that's out of question. :~}

PS: have fun - play my Formula 1 v2.2 ;-)
Do you get many views on them?
If not, that's probably why.

Scratch does not filter the Google custom search, as it's literally googling “something site:scratch.mit.edu”

Yeah, why would I need any proof? xD

about the views - opposite, still how do the views enter the “Google to blame” picture?
How many views do they get per week, on average?

what do you mean “they”? do you read my replies? what do you mean also “per week” when there is effectively only one week for each project?
you could simply check it by the way…
Your projects. Yes, I read your replies. I said “about how may views, per week, do they get?”

One week probably isn't enough time to be indexed…

I see… I told you don't bother replying if you don't really care thinking when replying. Bye

Listen, all the way you tried to ignore the pattern that I described from the very beginning,
trying to convince me that it's all about Google indexing, while it was clear it's not Google's business at all.
Then, suddenly you turned asking me about the “views per week”, while it was clear there could be no such
measure, as a project is “alive” on the listings one week only (except those featured on the front page of course).
Then, you ignored my question: how the views enter the “Google to blame” picture?..

In your last post you say “One week probably isn't enough time to be indexed…” while I told you indexing of
within a week created projects takes max an hour (fact!).

So I suggest you keep your opinions and conclusions to yourself please, they are even less consistent than the Google indexing :}

Google indexing is based on the page traffic, if you read the link I gave you. Have you read it yet?

No need to tell me to keep my opinions to myself - I have the full right to share them

you simply flood this thread. that's the only outcome… surely, you can “share”, not that I would bother any longer. Bye-bye for now.

Just to confirm what I described before: half an hour ago I have fixed a bug in both my Formula 1 v2.2 and more recent (experimental) v2.22, so both have been updated roughly at the same time. Now v2.22 does show up in Explore/Animations and Explore/Games listings (according to the tags), but not the older v2.2.

I believe Scratch (admins) should state it clearly somewhere on the FAQ or Rules pages how the listings are updated, and what rules are applied to these, so the fellow scratchers would not need to wonder and guess why and how their projects become invisible (especially after collecting a lot of views, loves and favs).

If you can't find a project when searching it, there may be a couple of reasons why it isn't there:
  • You're not searching specifically enough. If your search term is too short, then other projects may appear.
  • The project doesn't have enough tags. The project may not have enough tags, which can prevent it from showing up on the first page of results.
  • Google hasn't indexed it yet. This is the #1 cause of search problems. If a project has just been shared, Google won't be able to find it. Wait at least a week, then try again.
  • You need to clear your cache.

I did everything on the list and it didn't show up, am i doing something wrong?

If you can't find a project when searching it up using the search bar at the top of the Scratch website, then there may be a couple of reasons why it isn't there:

  • The project doesn't have enough tags. The project may not have enough tags, which can prevent it from showing up on the first page of results. They really help.
  • Google hasn't indexed it yet. This is the #1 cause of search problems. If a project has just been shared, Google won't be able to find it. Wait at least a week, then try again. If after a week it still doesn't appear, then again give it some more time. Google is temperamental.
  • You may need to clear your cache. No guarantee that this'll work.

I have done all these, and even then, they sometimes show up near the top but not always. Usually, they are VERY far down the list. Can you help?

This topic is on the official list of helpful QaS topics, so I think we should be a bit more lenient here when it comes to necroposts.

This guide isn't exactly helpful anymore now that search has changed multiple times over the years, and doesn't even use Google anymore, and should probably be closed now.
