No, it will take up exactly the amount of space as the two sections do already. 2 sections with 200 characters each is the same as 1 section with 400 characters. Also, as another person pointed out a long time ago, for some reason comments can be 500 characters long when the two profile sections can only be 200, so clearly server space is not that big of an issue here.
