No support. IMO, Scratch has too much art. Scratch is a coding website, so I believe that basic drawing tools are all you need. If you want to do art, go to a different website.

scratch isn't just about code. It's a way for people to share there interests and talents with others. Art is one of those interests. Games and things aren't the only thing scratch is made for. Hope this helps you understand

that still doesn't mean scratch needs to drop everything for art

If you are sharing art on scratch, it can be remixed but I understand if you put your art witout credit then they are breaking the rules

I suggest changing how tracing and recoloring works.
Remixing is an important part of scratch, so removing it wouldn't help. However, it'd be nice if you could only trace/recolor/heavily reference a design through remixing, so there is a more direct form of credit, while still being able to trace and recolor <3

Edit: Or at least make it so you have to follow the rules of other websites such as instagram, DeviantArt, Ect. Because right now people are allowed to trace and recolor from those websites, even if the artist doesn't share their stuff on scratch and says to not trace/recolor

I think it very unfair for artist to get banned or blocked from scratch just because the want credit for there work and would like it not to be recolored.

How would they exactly implement it? A bot can't tell if something is a recoor/trace
More like people would be allowed to report it if that happened, instead of those artists getting banned
that would go against the CC BY SA 2.0 license. Impossible to implement

actually if i understand correctly it does not unless the creator of the project meets the cc-by-sa 2 requirements (link to original, attribution, and link to cc-by-sa 2 license text)

Nope, the rules right now allow you to backpack it, which is less direct than remixing

but then, what about templates, custom blocks, or others?

wait so what im getting is that you shouldn't be able to use assets from other projects even if you do credit them according to cc-by-sa 2 because of a preventative measure?
no support in that case

My trouble with this suggestion is that it might violate the license. It clearly states that there are no technological measures that should be instated to prevent the person from using the creative work in any manner.
It's worth noting that backpacking has been a thing for quite some time now. Taking it away might be justification to terminate every single project's CC BY-SA 2.0 licence (which is done automatically upon violation). That's going to cause a ton of issues.

I'm confused about this too - why is this specifically about the artwork and not the other stuff that goes into making an artwork?

I understand that the status quo impacts a lot of users in visual arts, but please understand that this policy is impacting many other forms of “art”. Drama, music, and, to an extent, programming are all in the same boat when it comes to different forms of theft.
I wonder if we can possibly include these aforementioned topics into the subject as well. I recall there was a suggestion to “tag” backpacked scripts with credit somewhere… I can't find it now.

Art is a huge part of scratch though
It's very easy to just go to another website or program, draw there, and import it into scratch.

The main point of scratch is for coding though
I mean, you are not wrong though.. Scratch is supposed to be for coding, but art is just fine.. as long as it does not get out of control or something like that..

No support, Scratch's copyright makes it so that assets from one project are allowed to be used in another as long as credit is given. If I had to come up with a word that starts with the letter i to describe this suggestion, I'd personally choose the word “illegal” over “improvement”
