Super Mario 3D All Stars is an upcoming compilation of 3D platformers for the Nintendo Switch. It commemorates the 35th anniversary of Nintendo's Super Mario franchise.
The compilation includes Super Mario 64 (1996), Super Mario Sunshine (2002), and Super Mario Galaxy (2007). All three of the games are presented in a higher resolution, with Super Mario Sunshine being presented in a 16:9 aspect ratio for the first time.
Nintendo planned to reveal the collection during a Mario-themed presentation at E3 2020, but was forced to change its plans after the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The collection's existence was first reported by Video Games Chronicle in March 2020, and also reported by by multiple other outlets, including VentureBeat, Gematsu, and Eurogamer. According to Eurogamer, Nintendo has referred to the compilation as Super Mario All-Stars 2 internally. In July, fans discovered a registered Twitter account alluding to a Super Mario 35th anniversary announcement. The account used the same e-mail as other official Nintendo Twitter accounts.

The collection was formally announced in a special Nintendo Direct for the 35th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros. on September 3, 2020, confirming its planned released on September 18, 2020. The collection will be available only for a limited time in both physical and digital versions through March 31, 2021.

Both, since from what I've seen about Galaxy 2, it's a completely different experience from the first Galaxy (which I have played)

galaxy 2 being omitted makes sense to me because
1. it's basically just more of the same from galaxy 1 (it's a great game but still)
2. it would take up more space
3. if it were added 50% of the collection would be dedicated to galaxy
4. as much as I want and am probably going to love this collection it's probably just a cashgrab (which the whole “no longer available on march 31st” thing would have me believe) and adding another game would be more work

i bet that for mario's 40th anniversary they'll do a sequel

Even though i do have Mario 64 and Galaxy, the N64's controller is not that good and my Wii always occupied by my brother ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

galaxy 1 > galaxy 2 imo so

It's my birthday soon, I might ask my parents about it.
I've never played 64, only the DS version, so that'll be really cool.
Sunshine I have played, but would love to play again, and I don't really get to go on the Wii.
Galaxy I have a humongous nostalgic attachment to, so this means I have to 100% it for the third time. I'm happy about that though, I love Galaxy.

(I prefer Galaxy over Galaxy 2, but I'd still love to have Galaxy 2 as well, because I haven't 100%ed that one yet. I'm not too worried though, Galaxy 1 is enough.)
