In this forum, lots of duplicate topics have been created. A duplicate is a topic that is the exact same as an older topic.
If you know the topic you are creating is a duplicate, please don't post it.

Why you shouldn't create duplicates

• It's easier to have the discussion in one place
  

• It clutters up the forums with millions of the same topic
  

• It makes the moderator's job harder. Imagine having to close lots of threads about the same thing
  

How to avoid posting a duplicate

• Use a custom search engine. I recommend this, this, or this
  

• Check the Things I'm Reading and Playing directory. It can be found here
  

• Read this handy guide by Wahsp.
  

What to do when you see a duplicate

• Comment a link to the post that was duplicated. (ex: This topic is a duplicate!)
  

• Report it. The moderators have a greater chance of seeing the duplicate if you report it, and the topic can be closed.

Oh it is? In wahsp's guide to finding dupes, he linked it, so I assumed it was OK.

It's not forbidden if it's clear you aren't trying to use it to see deleted posts.

if you type it into google search engine you can view all websites under scratch.mit.edu/discuss and you can narrow it down by adding a space and putting a keyword to find topics quicker.

Hi! I'm just wondering do you this be a duplicate? I made a topic on my alt (a new scratcher) however, there are some things I need to edit like the title it says ‘ ~Book Recommendations~ WIP PLEASE DO NOT POST WIP ’ and I'd like it to say without the WIP etc. I'm wondering, do you think it would be a duplicate if I made one on my main with a few changes (obviously I'd report the old one to be closed)? Thanks

I wouldn’t think so. Just report the old one to be closed, and you should be good.
