Scratch is definitely serious, look at all the good projects made like 3D and raytracing. If you learn how to use it, Scratch is a great platform.

You can do some pretty good stuff in Scratch, but … no. It's not that serious. It's there to teach beginners how to use Scratch. And, to be honest, I don't know why those really advanced 3d projects exist - Scratch isn't the right platform for them.

I don't know if this was already mentioned, but I don't think a prize is the best idea. Why can't the ST just give away a “community spotlight” or something? I like the idea overall though
