But really - what's the point? It may be ugly in your opinion - but isn't that a reason to change it to something cool, individual? Or, in case you think that it looks nice, what's your problem? It's nice how it is!

Those mockups look really cool, and I think the ability to choose your avatar might be helpful to people who don't have a drawing program to make their own profile pictures, as it gives them a profile picture that looks good right off the bat.

Also, as much as I like the mock-ups overall (and yes, they are mock-ups so they won't be perfect), I do feel like Pico's outline is still a bit glaringly visible, so I did re-touch it a bit.

Also, compared to the standards of our modern digital age, I think ~120x120 px. is a little low-res (referring to the mock-up additional proposed icons). Maybe we should do some 512x512 versions if they're gonna be made official. Or of course, we could just lay back and leave that up to the ST.

completely off topic, but one can not simply update all of the pages to “3.0” on any set date.

the scratch-www migration (doesn't actually have to do with 3.0 at all but people call it 3.0 for some reason) takes time, it's been going for years now and while perhaps progress could be faster it doesn't mean the scratch team isn't working on it.

so many scratch pages have been migrated, all thats left now are the big ones like profiles and studios which will take a while since those are big changes that require not only front end migration but also changes to the API and probably database.

be patient.

yes using some special stuff you can redirect requests to the default icon to https://u.cubeupload.com/darkness3560/newscratchavataropti.png which basically is cool and now

edit:
keep in mind, at some point in time the ST switched how default icons work so that it doesn't create save a new file for the default pfp every time. this means that accounts made a while ago retain the original PFP because technically they've each got their own profile picture
