Preview when you hover over a thumbnail
I'm sorry, but how does that answer my questions?-snip-I guess it does. I think that it would be cool if we had that on Scratch: Besides a proper way of setting a thumbnail, you'd have a way to upload up to 8 images, hopefully in-game. There would be a little button for thumbnail and preview next to the share button or somewhere where it makes sense on the project page.

It completely answeres them. How do you upload them? By selecting a few images from your PC and uploading them. So it's not created by code.

I still don't know how your post answered that, but I know now, and I'm sorry. It completely answeres them. How do you upload them? By selecting a few images from your PC and uploading them. So it's not created by code.
And let me bring up something I mentioned in my first post:
I want to just move on with this discussion now, so could you answer this? If it's the former [Uploading images from the user's computer], how could you make sure the image is actually from the project?

How to make sure that it's in-game? You don't - you can use anything as the thumbnail, so why not use anything as the preview? Maybe it could be like the screen recording feature - but really, I don't think that that's necessary.

1) Often we make the decision to view a project based on a thumbnail, and too often a good project is overlooked because of a dull, nondescript, or otherwise unprofessional-looking thumbnail. This could help that problem by giving the viewer more useful information on the project's content.
These two supporters are supporting because the user can set anything they like as the thumbnail, and the previews means that they actually kind of know what a project contains before clicking on it. Support. I have seen many instances of a user putting more work into a thumbnail than the project, and I gave them a view, and wasted 10 seconds of my time.
I actually like the concept, for that same reason.
If the previews could be set to anything the user wanted, then that merit of the idea is gone, isn't it? The user doesn't have to be honest with their preveiws then. They could put tons of effort into the previews, like @geometric_ghast said, and then people would click onto the project, and find out the previews were a lie.
And you can't set anything you like as the preview on YouTube, can you? It's always a clip of the actual video.
If you say that you could set anything you like, that completely defeats the merit and the purpose of the idea, and I wouldn't support at all. It wouldn't really be preview, that way.

Yeah okay when you say it it kinda makes sense. Yep, then you are just able to make a few screenshots from the actual game.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But even then, there's still a workaround that allows users to set whatever they want, which I brought up in my post. But I still think that setting the pictures in the project is a better idea, and that's where my 20% comes from. Yeah okay when you say it it kinda makes sense. Yep, then you are just able to make a few screenshots from the actual game.

There may be a workaround to upload anything - but really, who would really use that? More advanced people, right? But why should they? Their projects should be good enough to work without faked stuff.

I'm aware of that, I don't think it's a huge issue. I'm just hoping it doesn't become a trend, like animated thumbnails. Setting an animated thumbnail is far more advanced then faking a preview would be if this were the case. But loads of people do it, because it's ‘trendy’. I don't want the QaS forum to have topic such as ‘How do I set anything as a preview?’ because then fake previews would become more common, and more people would ask about it. There may be a workaround to upload anything - but really, who would really use that? More advanced people, right? But why should they? Sorry if I worded this poorly, but I do hope you see where I'm going with this.

The key difference here is that fake previews would be reportable for breaking the “Be honest” community guideline, whereas animated thumbnails are not reportable unless they appear on the front page. I'm just hoping it doesn't become a trend, like animated thumbnails.
