Narrator: What is a Zodiac? The month you are born in, and each one of them has a zodiac sign. Yet on Zaraphis, the planet, Zodiacs are everything. Each month has a zodiac sign, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. On Zaraphis, each zodiac sign has a kingdom. And each year, someone from each kingdom, is chosen to compete in the main kingdom, Araisiph. Each year, every year, it's a royal age 12 chosen to compete, but not this one. Pisces, the least favorite kingdom, the kingdom that is cursed, with it being the only month with 28, and only on leap years, 29, days. This is the 1200th year of Zaraphis, aka, the cursed year. And this year may be, Zaraphis´s last…

Sarah´s Aunt: Sarah! Sarah! Come down here this very instant!

Sarah: Coming!

Narrator: That is Sarah, the main character, and also the hero of the story. She is 12, with long, wavy brown hair and dark green eyes, but most people think they are hazel.

Sarah´s Aunt: What is with all of the messes you leave on the floor? Clean em up, now!

Narrator: Being a poor person, with little knowledge of who your parents are, isn't easy. Sarah works for her aunt, and has to clean up all the stuff that her family leaves on the floor. Her aunt and uncle are rich, but are not royal. Sarah, to them, is a maid, and so, to them, she is poor.

Sarah: I´m sorry, I´ll clean, I will do it.

Sarah´s Aunt: Well, you better do it by sundown, else, I´ll be here again, and with a person to put you in jail.

Sarah: Right, sorry, I´ll get back to working.

Narrator: Sarah bends down to pick up a mop, and starts to sweep. She cries quietly, takes her journal, and starts writing.

Sarah: Day 28, November. Dear Diary, I am lonely, and I am scared, I have little hope, and little memory, if this day gets any more worse, I´m not going to sweep. I know I´ll go to jail, but perhaps jail is better. From, a quiet friend, Sarah.

Narrator: She stops, hearing a dog bark, and realises.

Sarah: Uh oh, that's Auntie´s dog, and I did not sweep!

Sarah´s Aunt: Well, well, look who I brought.

Sarah: The police! No!

Officer Wilongbee: You're coming with me young lady, now!

Narrator: Sarah is dragged into a tight car, and squeezed into the back.

Sarah´s Aunt ( To Policeman ): Make sure that this young lady does not escape, no way, or else, you die.

Officer Wilongbee: All right, mam.

Narrator: Sarah drives away in the back of the car. The policeman takes off a mask, to reveal a badly bruised face. He was disguised!

Sarah (scared): Who are you? You, you, you aren't a bad guy, your not gonna kill me, are you?

Officer Wilongbee (laughing): Hahaha, going to kill you? No, a dog scratched me, a very big dog.

Sarah (unsure): A very big dog?

Officer Wilongbee: Yes, a very big dog, you see, I´m a royal officer, and you are going to take part in the trials.

Sarah: Wait? What?!? No way,… am I going to take those trials, I´m not royal! Are you crazy?!?

Officer Wilongbee: Considerably, you are royal, I mean your aunt is rich.

Sarah: She is not a queen.

Officer Wilongbee: Still, we really need you.

Narrator: Sarah looked very puzzled. The Royal Officer put on some music.

Officer Wilongbee: Oh, I, sorry, I did not give you my name.

Sarah: Neither did I, my name is Sarah.

Officer Wilongbee: I knew that, my name is Officer Wilongbee.

Sarah: Nice to meet you.

Officer Wilongbee: Ahh, we have just arrived right on time, welcome to Pisces, royal palace!

Sarah ( impressed): Woah!

Narrator: They walked up the marble staircase, and entered the inside of the royal palace of Pisces.

Officer Wilongbee: The other contestants will be in the dining hall, right now, I must leave you.

Kids: Who is that?

Princess Arie ( with a sneer) : Oh her? That thing is not a princess, come guys.

Narrator: Princess Arie´s friends snicker, and one of the princess´s stands up to her.

Princess Sage: Don´t be mean to her Arie! She may not be one of us, but listen, if you don´t scoot on out of the way, I´ll tell my mum.

Princess Arie: And who says you can boss me around?

Princess Sage: Excuse me?

Princess Arie: Come on guys, she isn't worth it.

Narrator: Princess Arie, and her friends walk away.

Sarah: Thanks for that.

Princess Sage: For what?

Sarah: For standing up to her, for me.

Princess Sage: No problem, next time she does that, tell me, and she´ll have to move along.

Prince Scorpi: Are you the new girl, the one that isn't royalty?

Sarah: Um, yeah.

Prince Scorpi: Hmmm, wonder why they didn't put the princess in the trials.

Princess Sage: Scorpi, that is rude, don´t do that to her.

Prince Scorpi: Oh, sorry.

Narrator: Sarah gave him a disapproving look, and then looked behind to see if anyone was watching them.

Prince Scorpi: Uh, good luck in the trials.

Sarah: Thanks.

Narrator: They glance at each other, unsure of what else to say.

Prince Scorpi: Oh and be warned, there are many dangers in these trials.

Narrator: Sarah wakes up from her bed, with a weird dream in her head.

Sarah: Weird, it was just a dream.

Narrator: Sarah goes back to bed, but is shocked to know that she was in a royal room, in a royal bed.

Sarah: What? How did I get here?

Narrator: Two girls rush into the room.

Sage and Loriz: Good morning! Here is some tea, and cookies, and-

Sarah: Sage, and who are you?

Princess Loriz: Oh, Princess Loriz, from the kingdom of Libra. My father has heard about you, and wanted to ask you-

Narrator: Loriz is cut off, as Sage rushes onto the bed, and jumps quite loudly.
Princess Sage: Good morning, Sarah!!

Sarah: Good morning, wait it's morning already?

Princess Loriz: Yes, and my father was going to ask you, if you wanted to join him for dinner, tonight.

Sarah: Um,.. yeah, sure, I guess. What time?

Princess Loriz: Around, 6:00, I think that was the time.

Sarah: Alright, I can go then. Officer Wilongbee was going to teach me, some things about being royal. Not like I want to take the class, but it does seem as though I need too. He told me this last night.

Princess Loriz: Okay then, see you at 6:00!

Sarah: Wait, you're going to be there?

Princess Loriz: Yeah, I mean he is my father, so yeah, I'm obviously going to hangout with you guys.

Narrator: Officer Wilongbee bursts into the room, and sits down on a chair, covered in silver.

Officer Wilongbee: Sarah, I believe it is time for a class, so I had hoped you would be ready.

Sarah: (yawns) Oh, I´m ready.

Narrator: Sarah jumps out of bed, and hurries over to the closet, to change.

Officer Wilongbee: So, she wasn't ready, now was she.

Princess Sage: No, indeed she was not.

Narrator: They wait for 3 whole minutes, until Sarah decides to come out.

Sarah: Now I´m ready. See you guys in an hour.

Officer Wilongbee: Are you sure you're ready? Are you missing anything?

Sarah: Yes, I´m sure Officer.

Officer Wilongbee: Alright then.
Narrator: Officer Wilongbee and Sarah walk into a quiet room, with a marble ceiling, and a big chandelier hanging above them. They both sit down on a chair, and Officer Wilongbee looks around to see if anyone is spying on them.

Officer Wilongbee: Do you actually know why I'm having a class with you?

Sarah: No, I mean yeah, I mean kinda, I guess.

Officer Wilongbee: Well, I´m going to be talking about the upcoming trials with you.

Sarah: Oh, okay.

Officer Wilongbee: So, what the trials are about, so each kingdom´s zodiac, has a trial-

Narrator: A girl bursts in, and kicks the door till it cracks.

Princess Aquaphis (selfish): Oh, sorry, am I bursting in on you? Well, I kinda need this room right now for royal activities, not like you need it for anything, non-royal.

Officer Wilongbee: Get out, Aqua, I´m having a talk with Sarah right now, and we don't need you to be here right now, so get out.

Princess Aquaphis (selfish): Oh my gosh, why are you bossing me? I'm a princess, I get everything I want, including this room.

Narrator: Aquaphis points them out, and Officer Wilongbee is fuming with anger still rising.

Princess Aquaphis: Bye bye!

Officer Wilongbee: Arrrrrrrrgh! Now we have nowhere to go to talk quietly! Eh, I guess maybe you could talk about it when you go for dinner.

Sarah: Yeah, that is a good idea.

Princess Arie: Hi again, non royal.

Sarah: Ugh, you.

Princess Arie: Now it seems as though, everyone is against you, doesn´t it?

Sarah: Please stop talking.

Princess Arie: And look, everyone hates you. Including our family. Too bad.

Sarah: I said shut up!

Princess Arie: Hahaha, you're so funny.

Narrator: Sage and Scorpi runs in between the two.

Princess Sage: Arie, stop! Don´t do it again, or else!

Prince Scorpi: Yeah, don´t do it.

Princess Arie: Or else what?

Princess Loriz: Or else me.

Princess Arie: Wait, Loriz, I thought you are on my side!

Princess Loriz: Wrong, and I think what you are doing is wrong, don´t do it anymore, please stop.

Princess Arie: No, I won´t stop, I won´t stop until I get what I want, and that is everything my way, so now, move out of my way.

Narrator: They all look puzzled, and then Loriz taps on Sarah´s shoulder.

Sarah: What?

Prince Scorpi: Uh, yeah, what?

Princess Sage: It's time for dinner, remember?

Sarah: Oh, yea, yeah, ok.

Narrator: They walk into the dining room, and sit down near a man. Scorpi exits to go do his own activity.

Princess Loriz: Sarah, this is my father, Mr. Libra.

Mr. Libra: Hello, Sarah, please call me Liam.

Sarah: Okay, Liam.

Mr. Libra: I wanted to talk to you about the trials, because Wilongbee told me too, I´m his most trusted friend.

Princess Loriz: Okay, skip to the information!

Mr. Libra: Agh, ok, ok, The 12 Zodiac Trials, will be a test, a test, that I cannot speak of what it is for, but, every kingdom has a zodiac sign, and there are 12 trials, each one for a different zodiac.

Sarah: Woah! What happens in the trials?

Mr. Libra: You are sent to test your knowledge on each zodiac sign, and one person will be eliminated, in every trial. The winner is the ruler of Zaraphis for a year, and can reach through to other universes. I´m telling you way too much, but you can know this, once you are in the trials, there is no going back.

Narrator: Sarah is sitting on a tree, in the garden, of the Palace of Pisces.

Sarah: Nothing like the clear sky, in the morning sun, and the cool breeze that brushes on my shoulder.

Narrator: Sage rushes up onto the tree, followed by Loriz herself.

Princess Sage: Ah, good morning Sarah, lovely day, isn't it?

Princess Loriz: Yes, it definitely is.

Princess Sage: And, it is the perfect day, and the day of the first trial, the perfect day to train. Yes, because the trial is at night, we can train.

Sarah: Wait, the first trial is happening today?!? I didn't even know! I thought one of you would tell me!

Princess Sage: Wait! You didn't know? I thought you did know, hmm, weird. I thought Loriz's dad told you!

Narrator: They all looked at each other, in puzzlement. Until, Scorpi, and his friend, came over.

Princess Loriz: Hello, Scorpi, who is your friend?

Prince Scorpi: Oh, hi, this is Prince Cameron, my best friend.

Prince Cameron: Hello! Just call me Cameron, there is no need for the ¨Prince¨ title. By the way, I´m from the kingdom of Cancer.

Sarah: Hello, you know I am wondering why every prince, princess, king, and queen, have the first letter of their kingdom´s name, in their first name.

Prince Scorpi: Oh, that's because-

Prince Cameron: It's A rule, that all royal people have to go by, and it's been a rule for 1200 years,-

Prince Scorpi: The 12 years that we have lived, and every ruler keeps the same rule, and has kept it for, well you know.

Princess Sage: Well, if I was ruler of the world, I would definitely change that rule. It's not unique.

Narrator: Sage and Loriz walked down the tree, and a few seconds later, Sarah did too.

Sarah: So, how are we going to prepare for the upcoming trial?

Princess Sage: You´ll see when we get there.

Sarah: Get, where?

Princess Loriz: Here!

Narrator: Sarah looks up at a marble house, with one room, perfect for preparing.

Sarah: Well, this looks royal. How did I not spot this?

Princess Sage: It's hidden on one side of the wall, and not the other.

Sarah: Oh, well that was confusing.

Narrator: They all walk inside, followed by Scorpi and Cameron, and 2 more boys they didn't know.

Princess Sage: I welcome you too, the secret preparing room, of the Palace of Pisces!

Sarah: Wow, this looks way bigger on the inside.

Princess Loriz: It's meant to, the builders built this building, so that it looked like an ordinary shack, but on the inside, it´s much, much bigger.

Prince Scorpi: Yes, it does look a lot bigger on the inside, doesn´t it.

Prince Cameron: It does.

Narrator: There is a crash from inside, and the 5 look over to find two boys hiding in the bushes.

Princess Sage: Ugh, you two, were you spying on us?

Prince Leo: Alright, you caught us, now, were just going to leave,

Princess Sage: No your not, explain yourselves.

Prince Tanner: Oh, alright, alright, we were spying on you,

Prince Leo: Don´t blow your cover,

Prince Tanner: Hey, I ain’t. I was just-

Princess Loriz: Get out.

Narrator: The 2 boys head out, looking very disappointed.

Sarah: Who were they?

Princess Loriz: Oh them, yeah, don´t go playing with them, you're not going to get out of a conversation with the both, but they are called Prince Leo, from Leo, and Prince Tanner, from Taurus, the two, aren't very nice.

Sarah: Ok.

Princess Sage: Guys, remember, we have got to study, or we won't know what to expect for the first trial.

Princess Loriz: Oh yeah, we do.

Narrator: They all sit down, and start to study about the first trial.

Sarah: It says here, that the first trial will be about, Aries. Oh gosh no, that´is Arie's kingdom.

Princess Sage: Seriously? Why?

Narrator: In an hour, they are complete. They all head into the Palace of Pisces, and stand waiting in the main hall.

Officer Wilongbee: Ah hello, Sarah. Are you ready for the first trial?

Sarah: I guess, yeah.

Officer Wilongbee: Are you all ready?

Kids: Yes.

Narrator: All the kids climb into a limo, and head off to the Palace of Araisiph. Once they get there, they are taken to a room that is supposed to be the Aries hangout.

Officer Wilongbee: Welcome to the Aries hangout, this will be the trial´s main room, and Arie is going to be counting your scores.

Sarah: (groans) Why does she have to be counting our scores?

Princess Arie: Because, it's My Kingdom.

Officer Wilongbee: Quiet down!

Princess Arie: I know you aren't going to make it, non-royal.

Officer Wilongbee: Shhh! Quiet!! The trial will start… Now!!!

Narrator: Officer Wilongbee blows a whistle, and everyone, except Princess Arie, runs to a chair.

Sarah (rushed): Um, um, what do I do? What do I do? Um??

Narrator: Suddenly, the room folds in around Sarah, with a blinding light, and then the room changes to the palace of Aries.

Room: Welcome to the palace of Aries, please answer these questions, before leaving the room, or else you will be eliminated. Answer more questions wrong than anyone taking the trials, elimination for you.

Sarah: What may these questions be?

Room: First question, what sign is opposite of Aries?

Sarah: I don't know! I don´t know!… wait a sec, if Loriz, and Arie really hate each other, would that make them opposites? I mean, that would make sense, alright. (boldly) My answer is Libra.

Room: Correct, now test that theory.

Narrator: The room changes to a planet called Klinmento, and the room projects an image of the Zodiac wheel on the wall, Sarah gasps for air, but realizes she can surprisingly breathe.

Room: What is Aries animal, this is an option question. 1. Lion 2. Ram 3. Giraffe. I will not repeat it again.

Sarah: Ah, uh, um, uh, I dunno, um, uh,?

Mysterious Voice: Ram, ram, ram, ram…

Sarah: Ram?

Room: Correct!

Sarah: But I didn't mean to…

Room: Last question..

Sarah: Last question? Already? Well I truly hope I can answer this question.

Narrator: The room is changed to a room, with all the elements. Sarah accidentally burns her finger just slightly on the edge of a fire lake.

Sarah: Huh, that's annoying, I can still burn myself here, wait a sec…

Room: What element is Aries? Answer this question wrong, you will be stranded in the middle of this element, no escape, until we let you out.

Sarah: Oh gosh, um, wait… the element is probably something that you can swim in, um, um, but shouldn't, is it, lava?

Room: Correct! You will move on to the next trial, but I still get to push you.

Sarah: What? Wait! No!

Narrator: Sarah is sent down a very deep tube, and all the way to the room, she was in?

Sarah: Well, that was very deep, and scary.

Princess Sage: Sarah! You made it! You beat the first trial!

Sarah: I did? It was that short?

Princess Loriz: Oh no, it gets longer through the trials. I wonder how stressed Arie is going to be, when she sees you beat the first trial.

Sarah: Yeah, I wonder why Arie´s trial was first, shouldn't it go in order of the zodiacs?

Princess Sage: Arie´s gets her way with everything, I wouldn't be surprised if she forced her parents to put Aries' trial first, it just would make sense.

Princess Loriz: No, it definitely would not be a surprise.

Narrator: Princess Arie comes over, this time, a look on her face, that means she is in deep disgust.

Princess Arie (cunning): Good job, you beat my trial, fair and square. But don´t think this is over, oh no, it's not over, the trials get longer, with a very different path.
