Personally, I think that Scratch is about fun, which includes fun to learn, and fun to be famous. Not for creativity or being original. I mean, it's good, but you don't need to do it and it's not like people will always be mad at it.

Yes. This exactly. I prefer to see creativity, of course, and I prefer being creative. But I agree with you 100%

I think we've all seen those “Scratch has changed…” and “Scratch isn't what it used to be…” projects many times before. I generally disagree with them, but I saw one today that brought up a point a have to say I agree with…

So Scratch is all about creativity, right? Not follows, favorites, or loves? Then why is 95% of the projects on Explore by famous people who have a lot of followers? The issue is that many (not all though) of these projects are very short and have very little creativity in them. But, being famous, they know that it doesn't matter how little creativity they put into their projects, because they, no matter what, will end up high on Explore. And then there's the “unfamous” people that put a lot, and I mean a lot of creativity into their projects, and never see the light of the Explore page. Yeah, I get fame is “all about luck”, but that doesn't make it fair that there are so many underrated Scratchers out there that are constantly being drowned out by the famous ones…

My Suggestion is that we need to create a ratio system that will take one's followers into account when putting projects on Explore. The more followers, the harder it is to get on explore. The less followers, the easier. This will automatically knock down a lot of the famous Scratcher's projects, and bring up a lot of the unfamous's projects. Would this be fair to the famous Scratcher's though? Of course. They already have thousands of followers, so there's still a lot of people that will see their projects.
at least they should make this a new searching category

100% support! This is the suggestion Scratch needs the most!! Famous scratchers do not need explore, many people will see their projects anyway!

I think they already changed the algorithm since this topic was made to blacklist most famous scratchers, by making it so if a project gets more than 100 loves in its first 24 hours, it doesn't show up on Trending. For example, scratchers like sharkyshar, TheInternetIsCoool, huntedskelly, potatobear616, and even griffpatch don't show up on Trending anymore, because their projects get too many loves in it's first day. So I guess you can say that your suggestion has been added.

I feel like this is a genius idea. I'm not sure what the Scratch Team thinks about it However, this might or might not happen: famous Scratchers creating a bajillion alts with little followers and they just copy and paste their projects. I'm not sure if that would actually work around this, but it's something for consideration.

I think the ST has already changed the algorithm since the OP created the topic. I have observed that projects that get more than 100 loves in its first 24 hours don't show up on trending anymore.

Support, but not in the exact way you say it. I think there should be a separate ‘featured’ tab just for a randomly picked order of projects. This way, a random filler project does not get #1 on trending, but they can still get noticed.

Support!! Maybe this way some good art and completed MAPs might *finally* be on the explore page
Ah, how I have many things against this.
1: They already are.
2: That's the featured projects row in a nutshell
