Ban someone if they keep on sending you studio invitations!

Dear ST,
I really love Scratch, But there is 1 problem. My followers keep on sending me studio invitations and i keep getting useless notifications! Here's what it says: There was new activity in (studio) today! So ban a user and all their studios if they keep on sending you invitations when you didn't ask to join the studio!

This is not sent by the follower; you receive it because you are curating the studio. You can leave anytime.

Instead of that, why not make a “block studio invitations for this user” button? So, when they invite you, you don't get a message.

Sorry, but that's your own problem.
You can't expect a website to accurately guess which invitations you value as important, and which ones you don't.
The only ways to deal with this is to either tell individual people to stop, or to be more selective about who you follow.

Just ask them to stop sending invites to you, if they don’t stop it could be considered as spam. If they are spamming you, report them.

They are not hating on you, there are just discussing how you can improve your suggestion.

If the person who keeps sending you the invites is a follower, then you can ask on their profile to stop. If you are following the person, you can either unfollow them, or ask them to stop.
I don't think it's necessary to ban someone, just because they keep sending you annoying invites.

It's not the owner that's making the notifications, it's sent to all the curators when anyone comments or does anything.

For some reason my followers keep inviting me to studios with useless notifications saying like

Follower has invited you to curate the studio (Studio)! Visit the curator tab on the studio to accept the invitation.

This has to come to an end.

If people follow you for no reason, they might try to Spy on you.

Stop spam.

Its annoying.

OK, number 1. If you don't want studio messages, don't curate the studios. We get that it's annoying, but often people invite all their followers to studios and for people with many followers it's hard to make specific exceptions.
Number 2. It's not your followers sending you invites, it's the people you're following. If you don't want invites from them, unfollow them.

I agree with the other posts that you can either ask the user who is sending you invitations or unfollow the user who is doing so so they can stop spamming your messages. But ban a user just because they send you an invitation? Isn't that way too harsh? Scratch studios wouldn't even work anymore - because everyone that sends invitations will get banned! Scratch will be left with only, like, 20 million users instead of 57 by the end of the week that this gets implemented.

And why would the Scratch Team even have to continue putting the button in studios if people just get randomly banned for it? They could just remove the button - but that would be the end of studios, because you can't invite anyone - and there you go.

This suggestion would directly lead to the downfall of studios and a major part of the community, just because you decided it's annoying.

this could be solved by being able to block studio messages, but I think you should be able to ban a user from inviting you to a a studio the only thing that will come up on their thing when they invite you is the sorry you don't have premission for that so no-one gets offended

"There was new activity in [studio]" notifications aren't invites, and aren't sent by your followers. They're sent to you automatically if there was activity in the studios that you are already in. (Any new/removed projects, comments, edits to title/description, or additions, promotions, and removals of studio members). Invites are when somebody wants you to join a studio you are not already in, and they can only invite you once, so you shouldn't be getting multiple over and over again.

Still, I agree that for actual invites, something should be done about somebody inviting you to so many studios even after you don't join any of them. They shouldn't be banned, but maybe they get an alert telling them to stop, or they are temporarily unable to invite people.
They usually invite you when inviting their followers, so if there's one person who keeps inviting you, then you can consider if it's worth unfollowing them.
Here's a suggestion for being able to disable getting invites: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/71242/

For a more universal solution to all of this, there's a topic about filtering messages in general (so you can filter out the ones you don't want) https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/56422/

Woah there! Banning them seems like a strong approach! Why not politely ask the user to stop?

Some users make these studios to advertise, and invite all their followers to show it off. In that case, unfollowing them is the best approach.

So, your followers probably aren't inviting you, those are the people you are following. Also, those aren't studio invites. So what you are saying is, if someone makes a stidio, you join it, the computer sends an automatic message to the curator, then the owner of the studio gets banned? That would mean that everyone on Scratch who has at least one studio would get banned, and there would be like, only 1000 Scratchers left. Those ones are the ones that are either new or haven't been active for one year. No. Just no. And the owner can't even control it!

Don't simply quote somebody, or do ^^^, or “As per this”, or any other alias you can find. It is just copying what the person before said before, and saying the same thing twice isn't going to help the discussion nor the idea. Try to add your own, original idea to make it a better idea!
