Dream - Scratch Mod
Hi, this is the topic for Dream, a Scratch mod I , Dreamod, have been developing.
I am unfortunately not working on it since I am quite busy with other stuff including studying science with 4 HL under the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB), and working on music and photography etc. However, I would be very glad to teach a new generation of scratchers how to code in Squeak, explain how to make a mod and I'd love to aid in programming tougher features. If you have any questions or need help please feel free to write something.

Dream primarily focuses on adding few but very powerful blocks that greatly expand on what the user can do.
Scratch Wiki article on Dream by pugluv4ever http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Dream_(Scratch_Modification)
12 new categories have been added.
Some of the new features added include:
- Procedures
- Image handling blocks
- Improved MIDI function
- Temporary variables
- Colors
- File I/O (also supporting sounds and images etc…)
- Cursor blocks
- Increased motor support
- GUI block options (such as Dialogs, String Editors, and Menus)
- Increased List Support
- Access to Sprite's media via blocks
- Info tab
Dream is finally Done! Version one anyways.
Please report bugs on the Dream website here: https://sites.google.com/site/dreamodscratch/home/user-reported-bugs

Just take the PC version of Scratch 1.4 and replace the image.

Well, wouldn't I need to change all the names from Scratch to Dream? Or do I just change the file name?http://www.mediafire.com/download/bdt118zdwzp9zo3/DreamPC.zipPC (Image Only):

Yes, they do. If they didn't, Chrome wouldn't be a circle on my desktop! It would be a square with a circle in it!Hmmm… I can give it to you as soon as get onto my computer. I'm on my iPad right now. You should just merge this with Z-cloud when it comes out, This way all the best functions are in the same mod.

I'm flattered, thanks . I could eventually merge this with Z-Cloud but the point of Z-Cloud is to be as simple as possible. But I can make a Scratch Version and Dream version. As for the cloud variables, you can post things to the internet via Dream and php. For example, In experimenting with my block importer and the block library, I managed to send a block file form to the website and sparks successfully received it Well, I'm glad you enjoy the mod WOW i just downloaded it and aside from 3D, and cloud variables it's almost everything I've ever wanted from scratch!!!

i'm exited about what the future of your two mods bring, they add alot and really expand what scratch can do, i would really recommend that you eventually add this to modshare!

Don't worry, I will add Dream to modshare, I'm just going to fix all the bugs first. Do you mind testing it? Try to reveal as many bugs as possible. If you do… I'll add ANY block that you request (that's reasonable). This applies to everyone i'm exited about what the future of your two mods bring, they add alot and really expand what scratch can do, i would really recommend that you eventually add this to modshare!

Sure!
I would love to test it out! how do the help files work? i could make help dialogues for the new blocks if you want.
Not sure if it's just because the http blocks have not been added yet but all they output is a RWBinaryOrTextStream
I found that the add script block does not show Sprite1 only mouse-pointer (which causes an error) when i create a second sprite the popdown menu then shows Sprite1 but does not show sprite two.
Size of file block returns error.
Create file/folder block returns error.
contents of file as binary returns does not exist, and also seems to force the containing directory of Dream.
processor always returns IX86, a bit vague and not accurate as mine is a 64-bit based intel i5.
Applescript code returns error. (i guess it has not been implemented)
Almost every single list block returns errors.
I would like to see a record block if possible, and the ability to save that recording to a variable or list that can then be played back.
Also some more code blocks would be nice (maybe an html code block to render websites in Dream hint, hint )
Once you do add Dream to modshare cloud variables and lists?
It is coming nicely so far!

Thanks for reporting so many bugs The HTTP blocks are supposed to return RWBinaryOrTextStream, the value can then be put in a (contents ) block. This is apparently, as I should have realized, a little confusing for most users. The point was so that it would be possible to access properties of the document. Maybe I should have a separate block for that. Applescript is very glitchy but the block isn't even supposed to try to run on a pc. On a mac it should let you run AppleScript code which lets you command other applications to do stuff. Processor… I'll have to look into that, sounds strange. Just to be sure, about file blocks, you do know you have to type the full directory? I'm sure you did, though. I'll take a look st these bugs and fix them. Sure!

About your blocks, what would the record block record? sound? html code block, what do you mean? :p The cloud variables and lists are a concern. Dream can have variables be images and colors and more. suppose somebody without dream were to access these variables. I have no idea what would happen to their version of scratch then. But I'm considering it. Maybe I could have them only take strings, numbers and booleans?

insanity's method of cv's was per project so that another uploaded project can not use them
but yes Dream is forcing the root to be the folder that Dream is in instead of C it shows as Cprogramfiles(x86)/Dream/C(filename).(extension)
