Make an official statement about mass/false reporting
can scratchers really get banned temporarily if enough people report their projects?Yes, this is the question the Scratch Team really needs to answer. Currently many people think screenshots of automatic bans are fake, but maybe they aren't.

I'm not sure an announcements topic would stop mass reporting, but it would help clear up some misconceptions. At the moment, there's so much controversy, no one knows what to believe. For instance:Yes, i'm thinking it's more of a target on the controversy surrounding this issue, and not the issue itself. Although it's be great if the ST finds a solution that makes people happy AND is effective for inappropriate projects, at least for now, a statement that they acknowledge it would be a great start.
I know mass reporting's becoming a big problem, but can scratchers really get banned temporarily if enough people report their projects? Or are they just trying to get attention?
A lot of people are also starting up studios, saying we need to “fix” the reporting system, often without ideas on what it should be changed to. I think an announcement from the ST would be good to clear up some of the controversy, at least so people know what to believe, and it might help calm people down a bit, if they know that the ST recognise mass reporting as an issue.
I'm not sure what can happen to make this situation better, but I do think it's a good idea to address it.

Uh, Za-Chary is a moderator, so he probably removed it himself.(deleted)By a moderator? :P
I completely support this though, we really need a solution and this is a step towards it.
Support, anyway. It's annoying how misunderstood this issue is, and it needs to be addressed ASAP.

I know who you guys are talking about but I'm not going to say it. The guy who faked the ban right?I'm also kind of mad at him, since he did start this madness. Although, it's not his fault people worship him. It's just sad that they do even though he is incorrect.…but most of them trust popular Scratchers over the Scratch Team.That is terrifying. One flaw of Scratch is how famous people can do anything at all and everyone will believe it and it will get popular, but it's even worse when they trust those famous people more than the ST themselves. That's like trusting a famous singer's claim that they got arrested even though they didn't do anything wrong over the police officers who arrested them. That is so bad, it is terrifying.
Agreed. I also don't see why a lot of Scratchers follow (removed by moderator - please don't name names) just because he was “mass reported”. In my opinion, I think he got more popular when the project got taken down.

I mean, what needs to be stated? Like @Paddle2See said,
Don't false report!
What else needs to be said?

You know the rules, and so do I…
Apparently, according to this, (removed by user - please don't name and shame) may/may not have been right. Plus, a Scratch Team member confirmed that you get automatically blocked after receiving multiple alerts and you get mass reported.
Honestly, I don't know which side to trust, but a lot of people treated me like I was some sort of ringleader who spread rumors. I only made the topic because of information that lots of people confirmed as true, including a Scratch Team member. All of these rumors are beginning to perplex me. If only the Scratch Team could make a clarification to explain it all, that would be amazing.

It gets more complicated the more you hear. Something needs to be done.
Whether or not this issue it being exaggerated doesn't matter. This is an issue that is upsetting many users.

You wouldn't get this from any other guy…
It's hard to tell nowadays whether someone actually gets banned from a false report or they're just faking it because their project broke the Community Guidelines. I've seen some projects where they show the viewer an alert (not a ban message) that their project broke the Community Guidelines, and gives a constructive reason why it broke them. However, the users still say “I was false reported” and are denying the entire context of the report.
Things are taken down for a reason, plus, if it follows the Community Guidelines, it's brought back up, and the other users get alerts. If the project stays unshared, then it broke the rules.
Such a clarification would definitely help. As we said, it's getting very complicated, and I can barely even discern the truth from a lie concerning it anymore.

I agree with everything you guys just said. It's so hard to tell fact from fiction these days. I just want to say that I totally support this suggestion.

yes, they probably should clarify on if getting false reported does get you banned, because that's causing some confusion

NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP!
Make sure you don't make a suggestion within a suggestion. The Scratch Team is more likely to notice it in its own topic.
I have a suggestion:
Do not allow more than 1 report per project per IP address (so you can't spam it on all your Alt accounts)
Any IDENTICAL report messages (that have been copied and pasted exactly) won't be sent to a moderator and count as a report
An algorithm to stop mass-reports on popular projects: (this would not be in a project or visible, I have written it in Scratch Blocks to make it easier to understand)when project reported ::hat :: #0000ff
if <[1] < ((signed in views) / (reports))> then //more than 10 percent of viewers reported (change to higher if necessary)
unshare/hide project :: #ff5555
send to moderator :: #000000
else
keep shared :: #55ff55
send to moderator :: #000000
end
Make sure you don't make a suggestion within a suggestion. The Scratch Team is more likely to notice it in its own topic.
Often times people do not report a project more than once, from what I've seen. I suspect that reports made against the same user for a certain project will not cause the project to get automatically removed.
This also wouldn't be a great suggestion because someone could report a project for a valid reason, but after a few days we miss it. We then encourage the user to report it again so we can see it.

I made a topic similar to this one, but @Za-Chary said it might scare people into not reporting at all, even if the project is inappropriate. Link: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/402033/

I'll keep this topic open for now.
