ALS is a tragic neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Lately, there has been a lot of social media attention from the Ice Bucket Challenge which aims to bring more awareness and donations to curing ALS.

Basically, it challenges nominated participants to film themselves pouring a bucket of ice over their heads. The participant is expected to donate $10 if they have poured the ice water over their head or donate $100 if they have not, although this amount varies from donation to donation.

So, what has been your favourite Ice Bucket Challenge so far? Currently, mine is the one by Novak Djokovic.

To any tennis junkies out there, I'm an ardent Federer supporter. While I loved his challenge, I thought Novak lived up to his ‘Djoker’ sobriquet. :P

I've seen a couple of them.

My mom did that. The ice melted before I dumped on her though. I do love the idea though. My friend had some relative who had ALS, so she's pretty happy about the ice bucket challenge.

Some years ago, no one knew about that disease. It is good how people learn about it…

Sad to hear about your relative, but at least it's heartening to see the spreading awareness of the disease!

I haven't done it, but many of my friends have. I just watched a YouTube video of Adam Lambert pouring ice over Brian May.
I heard that ALS donations increased by 1000% because of the ice bucket challenge.

I've been looking through some of my past school mates' videos on Facebook, and some of them are absolutely hilarious!

I would donate if i had any money…

It's really cool and funny except for the sad majority that do it without recognising that it's for ALS.

It is indeed great to see him do this. Still, however good the cause, many people are making judgmental comments stating that if he truly wants to help, he should donate sums in the billions. I mean, give him a break already – he's done loads for charity.
