Tenor and giant voices not working

Hi!

I am working in the intro of a game, and I want to have it be narrated by the Scratch voices ('Text to Speech'). I'm using the voice called ‘alto’ for the beginning of the intro, but later in I'm going to want to switch it to some of the other voices ('tenor', ‘squeak’, and ‘giant’). The other day, when I tested the various voices to pick the one I wanted, they all worked. Today, when I tried to test the voices again, ‘tenor’ and ‘giant’ were not working. ‘Alto’, ‘squeak’, and ‘kitten’ still worked fine.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it just my computer or something else?

Thanks.

Please check your Internet connection and your firewall to make sure your PC is not blocking any connections to the Amazon Web Services for translating.

If you are in a school, then DO NOT FOLLOW THE UPPER INSTRUCTIONS. Tell us if your computer is part of a school, as the school may have blocked the connections to Amazon Web Services.

We may have to file this in to the “Bugs and Glitches” forum though.

Hello, all!
I just went and tested it on my own project. All voices worked, to my surprise, after what I've seen some people posting. This seems to be a problem all through scratch lately–there are several posts on it.
So, sorry to say, I can't help. It works for me. Maybe it's just your laptop? This one works fine. Also, yours is slower, so maybe that has something to do with it. Who knows.

Thank you all for responding.

I am not able to provide the project for viewing.
I am fairly sure that my internet connection was fine (it usually shows all the little bars filled in). I don't think my computer is blocking anything, because I haven't done anything with that.
GrizzEllie2, so glad the voices are working for you. I just tested on my own project and tenor and giant still aren't working. Probably it's some sort of glitch, because I know they were working a day or two ago. I don't think that the slowness of a computer would affect that setting, though. But who knows?

Thank you again.

I may know why it isn't working… I think it is sensitive to a few words… for example:

'Hi' works!

'Face' doesn't

The result out of this is that if I saw a sentence like: Smiley Face… You are awesome!

It wouldn't say anything…

Try to see if Scratch doesn't like one of your words and change it.

It's kind of a lot of words- a large part of the intro. Taking out any one word probably wouldn't help. But thanks anyway. I'll test tenor or giant with ‘hi’.

I've also noticed that when you put a lot into the input… It will stop reading of it eventually.

That was way before the glitch occurred though.
