Don't you mean
[foo v] :: variable reporter // ugh, :: variable reporter won't work

[x position v] :: motion reporter // how does it work for this?????????
And what is “foo”?

edit: wait what? in my preview, it showed as an extension??????

Basically, I couldn't figure out how to do that perfectly though.

“foo” is a common placeholder variable in coding. It is like X and Y in algebra
ok. you just do
your variable v :: variable reporter // note: add in [ brackets around the “your variable”
turns into
[your variable v] :: variable reporter
[your variable v] :: variables reporter
[your variable v] :: variables reporter
smh

I like the idea of being able to change the variable or reporter from a dropdown menu - it makes the feature easier to find and more friendly to mobile devices. I also like the idea of saving pallet space. However, I am not sure how you would toggle the display of the variable or reporter if each one weren't listed in the pallet with a checkbox next to it, as in the current design. Any ideas on how that would work?

Maybe there would be an option like another one of the tabs (costumes, sounds, etc) where you could toggle each variable from there? Or you could make a setting where you could toggle dropdown reporters in the project, or you could just use the
hide variable [ foo v]
block.

edit: And also the
show variable [foo v]
block.

I would think the variables would be one of the exceptions, so it would save space in basically everything else, such as motion reporters, sensing reporters, and all of the other reporters. I don't know if it would also apply for custom blocks… I don't know how those work.

If the variables were to be condensed, you know give me a bit I am going to make a mockup

I am thinking a button, like the “create new variable” button, here is a mockup of how it would look (before pressing it)

Make reporters a dropdown.

Here is when you click on it:

The grey line is so you can have variables on both sides (in case you have a lot). Or you can just make it smaller and have the grey line gone

They should just add a way to right-click on mobile (probably long press) instead.

([variable v]::variables)
… interesting…
But it's also a bit useless. I don't see how to could be useful, but it sounds cool, so…

That actually is the right click on most mobile devices, but some times it doesn't work.

block works

Make reporters a dropdown.

I think it is unnecessary to make all blocks drop-downs.

For variables you can right click to change it.

Scratch was designed from the beginning to be edited on PC

Mobile only worked after because they switched from Flash to HTML5
